Nghe An honors 126 outstanding people

(Baonghean.vn) - 126 delegates who are war invalids, sick soldiers, and outstanding people were honored at the ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2017), honoring outstanding people and groups and individuals with many achievements in gratitude work organized by the Provincial People's Committee on the morning of July 24.

At the ceremony, comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said: Along with the whole country, Nghe An has had tens of thousands of outstanding children, the previous generation, the next generation, one after another, going to fight and serve in combat; the whole province has over 590 thousand people joining the army; over 45 thousand people joining the Youth Volunteer Force; nearly 150 thousand people joining the frontline laborers and guerrillas; nearly 6 thousand veteran revolutionaries, pre-uprisings; over 900 revolutionary cadres and soldiers imprisoned by the enemy.

The whole province has over 45 thousand martyrs, nearly 40 thousand wounded soldiers, 13 thousand sick soldiers, 19 thousand people who participated in the resistance war and their children were exposed to toxic chemicals... The great sacrifices and losses of the people and comrades of the province have contributed, together with the army and people of the whole country, to highlight and continue to write the heroic and glorious history of the Vietnamese people in the cause of building and defending the country.

Over the past 70 years with many ups and downs of each historical period, despite many difficult socio-economic conditions, Party committees at all levels, Government, organizations and people in the province have promoted the tradition and morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", regularly paying attention to and taking care of the implementation of regimes and policies for war invalids, families of martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution.

The practice of the work for war invalids, martyrs and people with meritorious services over the past 70 years has shown that, by combining the preferential policies and regimes of the State and mass movements, together with the encouragement of the meritorious people themselves, it has created a source of combined strength, ensuring increasingly better care for the lives of families with meritorious services to the revolution.

Every year, organizations and people in Nghe An have donated over 18 billion, 100% of Vietnamese mothers are cared for. During the implementation of the policy in Nghe An, 100% of communes have been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as units that do well in social work for war invalids.

The whole province currently has many examples of war invalids who are "disabled but not useless", promoting the creativity and will of soldiers to become pioneers on the front of good production and business, enriching their homeland.

Also at today's ceremony, there were 126 outstanding delegates representing tens of thousands of people with meritorious services in the province. They are exemplary and typical examples in all areas of economic and social life. Many war invalids and sick soldiers, despite their injuries and many sacrifices and losses, still devote all their strength and mind to continuing to contribute to the construction of the homeland. Many are good businessmen, business owners, good farmers, farm owners...

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Le Minh Thong expressed: As people who are "loyal to the Party, devoted to the people", sharing the common difficulties of the country and the province, over the years, hundreds of thousands of wounded and sick soldiers, families of martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution have promoted the spirit of contribution and sacrifice in combat, now always upholding the will of self-reliance, overcoming difficulties and rising up in everyday life.

Within the framework of the ceremony, outstanding individuals had the opportunity to express their thoughts and aspirations, vowing to live and fight following the example of great Uncle Ho; striving to become worthy soldiers of Uncle Ho.

Attending the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Trong Dam - Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs emphasized: "To have the peaceful and independent days today, we always remember and are grateful to the heroic martyrs who did not hesitate to sacrifice their blood and bones for the independence and freedom of the nation."

He affirmed: In the coming time, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and related departments will continue to widely disseminate the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State on preferential treatment for people with meritorious services. In addition, it will focus on directing and implementing well the policies of the Party and State for people with meritorious services and their families who are facing many difficulties; not allowing families of people with meritorious services to the revolution to be classified as poor households.

Strengthen coordination at all levels and sectors to continue to propagate and mobilize people of all walks of life and socio-economic organizations to actively participate in the movement "Repaying gratitude".

He emphasized: On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, each of us feels the need to have a fuller and deeper awareness of our responsibilities and feelings towards families of policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services. Promoting the tradition of patriotism, kindness and loyalty of the nation and people of Nghe An, we believe that policies for war invalids, martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution and the "Repaying gratitude" movement in Nghe An will continue to be implemented better in the coming time./.
