Nghe An adds land use plan for WHA Industrial Zone 2 project, LNG Power, Cua Lo Port
The Nghe An Industrial Sector Steering Committee requested timely addition of land use plans for the WHA Industrial Zone 2 project, Quynh Lap LNG Thermal Power Plant and Cua Lo Deep-water Port.
These are projects with a total investment capital of billions of USD, playing a strategic role in the development of industry, energy and logistics of the province.
The industrial sector steering working group led by Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Phung Thanh Vinh has just signed and issued Plan No. 200/KH-UBND to direct and promote industrial growth by 2025.
In particular, the Working Group assigned the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board to coordinate with relevant units to promptly supplement land use plans for key projects such as: WHA Industrial Zone 2 Nghe An (183.37ha); LNG Power; Investment in construction and business of Cua Lo Deep-water Port.
WHA Industrial Zone 2 Project - Nghe An(belonging to Nam Cam D Industrial Park), Nghe An province was approved by the Prime Minister in principle, and at the same time approved the investor, WHA Industrial Zone Nghe An Joint Stock Company, in Decision No. 1706/QD-TTg dated December 31, 2024.
The project has an investment capital of 1,200 billion VND, deployed on an area of 183.37 hectares in the communes of Nghi Hung Nghi Dong, Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province.

Quynh Lap LNG Thermal Power Plant ProjectThe project has a capacity of 1,500MW (including 2 units x 750MW) using combined cycle gas turbine technology, will be deployed in Quynh Lap commune, Hoang Mai town with a total project investment of about 2.11 billion USD.
The project includes the following items: LNG power plant, gas storage, receiving port, breakwater and auxiliary works on a total area of about 210 - 360 hectares and a port to receive ships with a capacity of about 100,000 DWT. To meet the fuel needs of the plant, about 1.15 million tons of LNG will be imported per year. The project is expected to be put into commercial operation before 2030.
Nghe An is urgently carrying out procedures to complete the approval of investment policies and select investors for important and priority power source projects in this Power Plan VIII.
Investment Project for Construction and Business of Cua Lo Deep Water Portwill be deployed in the North Cua Lo wharf area, Nghe An seaport in Nghi Thiet commune, Nghi Loc district, associated with the Southeast Economic Zone to meet the requirements of exporting and importing goods to serve the socio-economic development of Nghe An province and neighboring areas, invested by the International Maritime Investment and Development Joint Stock Company (ITID) with a total investment of nearly 7,325 billion VND, deployed in 2 phases from now until 2030.
In July 2024, the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee agreed with the investor to build 3 berths, including 2 berths for ships up to 50,000 DWT and 1 berth for ships of 100,000 DWT, with a total length of 800m and an auxiliary system such as: 1,550m long breakwater, connecting bridge from the bridge to the berth, shipping channel, turning and docking area.
In addition, the port rear area has a land use area of 32 hectares to build works such as: container yard, CFS area (station for gathering goods from shippers to be packed into containers), warehouse, general cargo yard, bulk cargo yard, internal port road, parking lot, fuel station... At the same time, the sea surface area for the deep-water port area is 208.15 hectares to build offshore port works including: berth, breakwater, bridge connecting the bridge to the berth; turning area and shipping channel.
