Nghe An – Bolykhamsay (Laos): Strengthening coordination to protect security and order in the border area.

(Baonghean.vn) -On July 1st in Vinh City, the Police and Border Guard of Nghe An Province and the Police of Bolikhamsai Province (Laos) held their 6th Joint Conference on Security and Order Protection in the Border Area. Lieutenant Colonel Vu Chien Thang - Deputy Director of the Nghe An Provincial Police and Lieutenant Colonel Thong Lay Xay Nha Lat - Deputy Director of the Bolikhamsai Provincial Police chaired the conference.

At the conference, the two delegations exchanged views on a number of socio-economic issues and reported on the situation and results of their coordinated efforts to ensure security and order in the two provinces over the past period.

To continue effectively coordinating efforts to ensure security and order in the border area between the two provinces, Lieutenant Colonel Vu Chien Thang, Deputy Director of the Nghe An Provincial Police, proposed that both sides continue to strengthen information exchange related to security and order, promote cooperation in the fight against crime, focus on resolving border security issues, especially regarding criminal offenses, drug trafficking, arms trafficking, deforestation, and illegal logging along the border between the two provinces; and coordinate in protecting important conferences and events held in both provinces. In addition, emphasis should be placed on immigration management, strengthening education for people in the border area to raise awareness of respecting the independence, sovereignty, and customs of each country, and working together to build a more prosperous Vietnam and Laos in general, and Nghe An and Bolikhamsai provinces in particular.

The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on coordination in protecting security and order in the border area.

Also at the Conference, after agreeing on the contents, representatives of the two delegations signed a memorandum of understanding and exchanged commemorative gifts, while wishing that the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos in general, and between the two provinces in particular, would "remain ever green and enduring for generations to come."
