Nghe An: A 5.5 kg turtle was released back into the sea.
(Baonghean.vn) - This morning (March 13), Nghe An Fisheries Department coordinated with local authorities of Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu) to release a turtle weighing about 5.5 kg back into the sea.
At 10:00 a.m. on March 13, witnessed by commune leaders and many local people, fisherman Ho Van Thuan in Thanh Cong village, Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu, Nghe An) handed over a 5.5 kg turtle to a representative of the Nghe An Fisheries Department to release it back into the ocean.

Previously, at around 6am on March 12, while fishing in the coastal waters of Quynh Long, fisherman Ho Van Thuan and his brother Ho Van Luan pulled in a sea turtle with a dark yellow shell, wood grain, and milky white belly weighing about 5.5kg.

Hearing the news, some people came to buy the turtle, but Mr. Thuan firmly refused to sell and wanted to return the sea turtle to its habitat safely.

Upon receiving the information, after working with local authorities to mobilize and receive the turtle from the fishermen, Nghe An Fisheries Sub-Department used a canoe and fishermen to release the turtle back into the sea at the artificial reef area of Quynh Long sea, about 7 nautical miles from shore.
