The general assessment of the National Traffic Safety Committee shows that in the first 9 months of the year, the traffic safety situation nationwide has changed positively. All three criteria of the number of cases, deaths, and injuries due to traffic accidents have decreased compared to the same period in 2020.
The above results were achieved due to the objective reason that in the third quarter, many localities across the country implemented strict social distancing regulations to prevent and control the Covid-19 outbreak, so the number of vehicles and people participating in traffic decreased sharply compared to the same period in 2020.
On the other hand, regarding subjective causes, the Government, the Prime Minister, the Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee, leaders of ministries, branches, organizations, and Chairmen of People's Committees at all levels have promptly directed in accordance with the traffic safety and order situation and levels of epidemic prevention and control.

In Nghe An, implementing the direction of the Government and the National Traffic Safety Committee on implementing "Traffic Safety Year 2021", the province has focused on directing the synchronous and effective implementation of solutions to ensure traffic order and safety.
Thanks to that, in the first 9 months of the year, traffic accidents in the area continued to decrease sharply in all three criteria, specifically, the whole province had 98 traffic accidents, killing 73 people and injuring 66 people. Compared to the same period in 2020, there were 43 fewer cases, 16 fewer deaths, and 30 fewer injuries.
Nghe An has also set out key tasks for the last 3 months of the year, focusing on directing the effective implementation of solutions to ensure traffic safety and order, associated with the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic, especially on the occasion of New Year's Day and Lunar New Year 2022; mobilizing forces to clear violations of traffic safety corridors; advising the Provincial People's Council to pass a draft Resolution on solutions to clear violations of traffic safety corridors for the period 2022 - 2025.
Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh - Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee emphasized that although traffic accidents decreased in all three criteria in the first 9 months of the year, the number of cases, deaths and injuries remained high. Therefore, we cannot be satisfied with the achieved results but need to be extremely determined to deeply reduce all three criteria in a sustainable manner, especially in the context that in the last 3 months of the year, many localities return to a new normal state, people's travel needs and freight transport increase; as well as preparing for Tet and other holidays from now until the end of the year.

In that spirit, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized key tasks for the National Traffic Safety Committee, ministries, branches, provinces and centrally run cities.
In particular, the National Traffic Safety Committee needs to take the lead in coordinating with ministries, branches and localities to develop an action plan to implement the Prime Minister's Decision 2060 on the National Strategy to ensure road traffic order and safety for the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2045; at the same time, organize inspection, urging and supervision teams to promote traffic safety;...
The Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee requested that the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities study and promulgate regulations on the responsibilities of leaders in State management of ensuring traffic order and safety in the area; at the same time, develop a plan to implement the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch on ensuring traffic order and safety during peak periods from now until the end of the year in the context of both controlling the Covid-19 epidemic and ensuring socio-economic development.
The People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities also need to develop plans to implement Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP of the Government promulgating the Temporary Regulations on "Safe and flexible adaptation, effective control of the Covid-19 epidemic", including the fields of traffic, transportation, and ensuring traffic safety.
