(Baonghean.vn) - The rural market on Tet holiday reflects the atmosphere of the rural people preparing for the Spring Festival. The closer to Tet, the more bustling the rural market in Nghe An becomes. People go to the Tet market to buy, to sell and to "bathe" their souls in their homeland. Tet is approaching, people go to the market to shop, the rural market has become unusually crowded and bustling.

As time passes, the traditional Tet with “Fatty meat, pickled onions, red parallel sentences/ Bamboo pole, firecrackers, green Chung cake” has changed a lot. The red parallel sentences bought and sold at the countryside market during Tet remind people of the old Tet.

The rural markets during Tet always have indispensable typical items, such as dong leaves for wrapping cakes. Dong leaf stalls in the markets are always bustling with buyers and sellers. This year, dong leaves are more expensive than last year, with prices ranging from 10,000 to 30,000 VND/bundle (10 leaves). Along with the dong leaf stalls is the giang stall, where young wild giang trees are sold to be split into strings to wrap cakes. Using giang strings to wrap Tet cakes has many advantages over plastic strings or nylon strings.

In some markets, people also sell strings to make Tet cakes. The strings are split and tied, so buyers just need to take them home and use them.

Many children follow their mothers to the market to buy new clothes or help their families sell goods, carry Tet gifts, etc. For rural children, the Tet market is a place to preserve childhood memories, an extremely attractive space.

This year's areca crop is good, so there are many areca nuts at the Tet market. The prices are not expensive and there is no longer the scene of fighting over areca nuts for fear of running out of stock like in previous years. One of the rattan and bamboo products that people who go to the countryside market on Tet holiday often buy is tripods. Although not as numerous as before, tall and short tripods of “an unforgettable time” still appear in the countryside market on Tet holiday.

During Tet, every family's altar has a tray of five fruits, and bananas are indispensable. Normally, bananas are quite cheap in the countryside market, but they are expensive during Tet. Both ripe and green bananas are brought to the market to sell. Beautiful royal bananas cost from 30,000 to 80,000 VND/bunch. Every year, from the 25th of December, the countryside market begins to bustle unusually. Going back to the hometown to go to the Tet market is not only to buy and sell, but also to return to dear memories. On the roads to the Tet market, one can see the excitement of Spring.
