(Baonghean.vn) - Immediately after the online meeting with the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, on the afternoon of September 14, Nghe An province held an online meeting with districts, cities and towns to deploy plans to proactively respond to super typhoon Mangkhut about to make landfall in Vietnam.

Comrades: Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Hoang Nghia Hieu - Director of the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development chaired the meeting.

According to forecasts, there is a high possibility that storm Mangkhut will directly affect the Gulf of Tonkin between September 16 and 17 and directly affect our mainland between September 16 and 17.

According to the report of the Provincial Border Guard Command, Nghe An has 3,845 vehicles/18,556 workers directly fishing. As of 10:00 a.m. on September 14, the number of vehicles operating in the coastal area of ​​Nghe An was 2,716 vehicles/6,217 workers; the number of vehicles operating in other provinces and the common fishing area was 259 vehicles/2,061 workers.

The whole province has over 625 large and small dams, which are basically full of water. If there is heavy rain, the reservoirs will be very dangerous. There are 13 hydroelectric reservoirs in operation in the area.

Up to now, summer-autumn rice has been harvested on 37,579 ha/ 58,811 ha,Winter-spring rice has been harvested on 9,474 ha/37,579.85 ha; 2,726 ha of aquaculture area has been harvested out of a total of 20,758 ha; there are 696 fish cages on rivers, lakes and large water surface dams, 22 cages have been harvested.

It is expected that tomorrow, September 15, Nghe An will move all ships operating at sea to safe shelters; in the next 3 days, focus on completing the summer-autumn rice harvest.

Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh requested: Localities and departments and branches must organize 24/7 on-duty, closely monitor the storm's developments and flood situation, increase information to authorities and people at all levels to have timely and effective response measures, and must not be subjective.

In particular, special attention is paid to ensuring people's safety; resolutely evacuating people from dangerous areas to ensure safety of life and property, and organizing forced evacuation when necessary. The Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Border Guard Command, and the Provincial Police prepare forces and means to be ready to respond and help people evacuate people and property when requested.

Irrigation and hydroelectric reservoirs must continuously update the situation, calculate the operation plan of inter-hydroelectric reservoirs and base on the actual situation to operate appropriately, ensure the safety of the works and limit flooding downstream.

SaAfter listening to the report on the situation of preparing to deal with the super typhoon in localities, concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong requested: After this meeting, districts, cities and towns must urgently deploy storm prevention plans in the localities.

In the matter of safe evacuation, mountainous districts must pay attention to areas at risk of landslides, flash floods, and flash floods; coastal districts and towns must be on guard against rising sea levels and flooding in low-lying areas.

Proactively develop plans to support households that have suffered damage from storms No. 3 and No. 4 and floods at the end of August; do not let people go hungry or cold (especially households that do not have a home and are temporarily living in tents).
