Nghe An proactively responds to heavy rain.

The Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An province has issued a document requesting localities to proactively respond to heavy rain.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the forecast for the next 24 to 48 hours indicates moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces, with some areas experiencing very heavy rain. Rainfall amounts will generally range from 30-70mm, with some areas exceeding 100mm (heavy rain will be concentrated from late afternoon to night).

To proactively respond to heavy rainfall, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense requests the Steering Committees for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of districts, cities, and towns; and relevant agencies and units to implement the following:

Closely monitor weather warnings and forecasts to proactively prevent and plan production accordingly, ensuring the safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle any adverse situations that may arise.

Directing specialized agencies to coordinate with information and communication agencies, especially the grassroots information system, to strengthen propaganda activities and disseminate guidance on skills for responding to heavy rain, floods, flash floods, landslides, and localized flooding so that people are aware and can proactively prevent, avoid, and minimize damage... Strictly prohibiting people from fishing, collecting firewood, etc., in rivers and streams during floods or moving into flooded areas or downstream of reservoirs.

Organize inspections and reviews of residential areas along rivers and streams, and low-lying areas, promptly identifying areas at risk of insecurity, especially areas at risk of landslides, flash floods, and deep flooding, in order to proactively prevent and organize the relocation and evacuation of people when situations occur. Clear waterways and promptly address any structural failures from the outset.

Organize traffic control and guidance during periods of heavy rain and flooding, especially This refers to traveling through underpasses, flooded areas, areas at risk of landslides, and areas with deep flooding.

Prepare personnel and resources to deploy rescue and relief operations when necessary.

Maintain a strict duty roster, closely monitor weather developments and natural disasters, and regularly compile reports to the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense (through the Standing Office).
