Nghe An province is proactively responding to heavy rain, flash floods, and landslides.

According to the forecast from the Nghe An Provincial Meteorological and Hydrological Station, from the night of October 30th to November 1st, Nghe An province will experience moderate to heavy rain, with some areas experiencing very heavy rain and thunderstorms. Rainfall amounts in the North will generally range from 70-150mm, with some areas exceeding 200mm such as Hoang Mai, Tay Hieu, Nghia Dan, Que Phong, and Quy Chau; in the South, rainfall will generally range from 100-200mm, with some areas exceeding 250mm such as Truong Vinh, Cua Lo, Hung Nguyen, and Kim Lien.

To proactively respond to heavy rain, floods, landslides, flash floods, and waterlogging in low-lying areas, urban areas, and industrial zones, the Provincial Civil Defense Command (PTDS) requests the People's Committees of wards and communes; and relevant agencies and units to implement the following:

Closely monitor weather forecasts and warnings regarding heavy rainfall, the risk of floods, inundation, flash floods, and landslides, and promptly and fully inform local authorities and the public to proactively prevent and urgently address the consequences of recent natural disasters.

Deploy rapid response teams to inspect and survey residential areas along rivers and streams, low-lying areas at risk of flooding, flash floods, and landslides. Organize forces to guard, control, support, and guide traffic to ensure safety for people and vehicles, especially at underpasses, overflows, areas with deep flooding, areas with strong currents, and areas where landslides have occurred or are at risk of occurring.

Deploy security forces to monitor and control people and vehicles in areas at risk of deep flooding and landslides; deploy personnel, supplies, and equipment to address incidents and ensure smooth traffic flow on major transportation routes during heavy rains.

Inspect, review, and implement measures to ensure the safety of critical infrastructure and construction projects, especially dike and reservoir systems that have experienced incidents in the past. Absolutely prohibit water storage in reservoirs that pose a safety risk.

Actively operate and regulate interconnected and individual irrigation and hydropower reservoirs to ensure sufficient flood control capacity for downstream areas. Maintain readiness of personnel, equipment, and supplies to handle any potential emergencies.

Prepare forces, vehicles, equipment, and essential supplies according to the "four on-the-spot" principle to be ready to respond to any situation, especially in areas at risk of being cut off.

Newspapers, radio, and television in Nghe An, along with other mass media outlets, are intensifying efforts to disseminate information about rainfall and flooding developments to local authorities and the public so that they can proactively take preventive measures.

Maintain a strict duty roster and regularly report to the Provincial Civil Defense Command.
