Nghe An: Commune Chairman dismissed for "intercepting" support money for sick rice from people
(Baonghean.vn) - After receiving support money for people to destroy rice due to the epidemic, the leaders of Que Son commune created fake documents and forged signatures to "embezzle" nearly 70 million VND.
On April 10, the People's Council of Que Son Commune (Que Phong District) held an extraordinary meeting to dismiss Mr. Nguyen Hong Chau from his position as Chairman of the Commune People's Committee. This move took place after the Que Phong District Party Committee issued a disciplinary decision in the form of "removal from all positions in the Party" for Mr. Chau.
Also related to this violation, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Secretary of the Party Committee of Que Son commune was disciplined with a warning and transferred to the position of Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune.
Que Phong District Party Committee also disciplined the Standing Deputy Secretary and the accountant of this commune with a reprimand. The accountant has now transferred to Chau Kim commune. In addition, the Standing Committee of Que Son Commune Party Committee also received a similar disciplinary measure.

According to the reporter's investigation, in 2009, the black-striped dwarf disease appeared in Que Phong district. In Que Son commune, more than 60 hectares of rice and corn grown on rice land had to be destroyed. Que Phong district then decided to support the people of this commune with nearly 160 million VND for the destroyed rice and corn areas.
At that time, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung was the Chairman of Que Son Commune People's Committee, and Mr. Chau was the Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee. However, after being assigned to receive support money for people from the District Plant Protection Station, Mr. Chau created two sets of documents. One set had forged signatures, legalized documents to withdraw money and settle the amount of nearly 160 million VND.
In another set of documents, Mr. Chau had people sign and receive less than 90 million VND. In this set of documents, the commune arbitrarily reduced the area of rice and corn that people had destroyed and reduced the rice support rate from 400 VND/m2 to 200 VND/m2. The remaining amount of nearly 70 million VND has been "lost" since then.
During the inspection, Que Phong district requested Mr. Nguyen Hong Chau to refund this amount to pay the people.
