Nghe An has 106 people with dengue fever

(Baonghean.vn) – By the end of August 8, Nghe An had 106 people with dengue fever and 4 suspected cases. The work of controlling and containing the epidemic has encountered many difficulties, new cases continue to appear, the risk of an outbreak in the province is very high.

On June 28, 2017, dengue fever began to appear in Nghe An province (in Dien Chau district) with the first 3 cases. As of August 8, the whole province had 106 people infected with dengue fever.

Dengue fever patients are concentrated in Dien Thinh and Dien Ngoc communes (Dien Chau district). Of which, Dien Thinh commune has 19 cases, all 19 have recovered and up to now, after 16 days, the commune has not had any new patients. The dengue fever outbreak in Dien Thinh commune has been controlled and extinguished.

Dengue fever is currently breaking out fiercely in Dien Ngoc commune. By the end of August 8, the whole commune had 75 infected people. Of which, 49 people have been cured, 26 people are being treated (7 people at the District General Hospital and 19 people at Dien Ngoc Commune Health Station).

In Dien Ngoc, dengue fever has not been controlled: On July 31, the commune had 35 cases; on August 7, there were 13 new cases; on August 8, there were 5 new cases.

In order to control and suppress dengue fever in Dien Ngoc, the health sector and local authorities are monitoring and admitting new patients for treatment and disease-carrying mosquitoes; collecting waste, destroying mosquito larvae in the community; spraying chemicals to kill adult mosquitoes (10/12 hamlets have been sprayed); and strengthening communication work to prevent the epidemic.

Currently, the risk of dengue fever outbreak in Nghe An is very high. On August 8, Quy Hop District Medical Center discovered 4 suspected cases of dengue fever (3 people from Hanoi, 01 person from Laos)./.
