In Nghe An province, there are currently 903 cooperatives, of which 540 are operating effectively.
On the morning of July 15th, the Provincial Cooperative Union held a conference to review its activities during the first six months of the year and to plan tasks for the remaining six months. Mr. Nguyen Van De, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Collective Economic Development, attended and delivered a speech providing guidance. Representatives from several departments and agencies also participated.

Many cooperatives are operating effectively.
According to a report by the Provincial Cooperative Union, in the first six months of 2024,Nghe AnTen more cooperatives were established, bringing the total number of cooperatives in the province to 903, of which 690 operate in the fields of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. Of these, 540 cooperatives (accounting for 59.8%) are operating effectively. In the first six months of 2024, the Provincial Cooperative Union organized 12 training courses on various topics.

Besides cooperatives with a long tradition, many new models have emerged.cooperativeThis has led to innovation and dynamism in the market mechanism, mobilizing resources for investment, actively applying scientific and technological advancements to production and business, boldly connecting to provide good input and output services for cooperative members, and affirming the direction and effectiveness of production and business.

Out of a total of 567 products in the province that have achieved OCOP standards of 3 stars or higher, 269 products belong to 110 cooperatives and 56 cooperative groups.
The activities of cooperatives have made a significant contribution to job creation, labor restructuring, and the exploitation of local resources, contributing to an estimated 6.76% increase in the province's gross domestic product in the first six months of the year.
However, a look at the current situation also reveals that some cooperatives are still operating in a formalistic manner and are not yet effective; new cooperative models linked to value chains are not yet widespread; and cooperatives have weak resources to support production...
For the last six months of 2024, the Provincial Cooperative Union aims to achieve the following targets: establish 20 new cooperatives and effectively implement planned thematic programs, including organizing effective trade promotion activities and connecting supply and demand...
At the conference, five presentations shared experiences in production and business activities, as well as proposed solutions to the difficulties and obstacles currently faced by cooperatives in the province.

Collective economy and cooperatives are inevitable trends.
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De acknowledged the efforts of the departments, cooperatives and member units, and the efforts of all levels, sectors, and the collective economic sector and cooperatives, noting that the first six months of 2024 still saw significant development, making an important contribution to the overall socio-economic development of the province.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee stated that in the last six months of 2024, the Provincial Cooperative Union and the members of the Provincial Steering Committee for Collective Economic Development should continue to focus on developing specific programs and plans, ensuring practicality and alignment with the province's and the country's collective economic development strategy, and effectively implementing the "Continuing to innovate and develop cooperatives in Nghe An province giai đoạn 2021 -2025" project as per Decision No. 1958 dated June 18, 2021, of the Provincial People's Committee.
Continue to do a good job of propaganda, especially in disseminating and implementing Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW dated June 16, 2024, of the Central Committee on continuing to innovate, develop, and improve the efficiency of the collective economy in the new period; and the 2023 Cooperative Law. Clearly identify the development of the collective economy and cooperatives as an inevitable trend, considering this a crucial and regular political task of departments, agencies, and localities.
The Provincial Cooperative Union needs to effectively represent and protect the legitimate rights and interests of cooperatives. It should focus on reviewing the operational efficiency of various types of cooperatives, cooperative unions, invested and developed models, and implemented policies to further advise the Provincial People's Committee on supplementing effective implementation solutions.
Continue to improve the quality of consulting services for cooperatives in transforming their operational and production-business models, focusing on building and replicating new cooperative models linked to value chain development, with an emphasis on developing products that meet OCOP standards.
For cooperatives, it is necessary to make good use of internal resources, proactively and boldly invest in expanding services, applying science and technology, linking production and business, and focusing on developing and expanding product markets... in order to improve production and business efficiency.
Departments, sectors, and localities need to continue paying more attention to cooperative economics and cooperatives, allocating resources to consolidate and improve the efficiency of production and business activities of cooperatives...

At this conference, the Quyet Thang Handicraft Cooperative in Hung Loc commune, Vinh City, was awarded a Commendation Flag by the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance for its outstanding performance in fulfilling its tasks in 2023.
