Nghe An province has 620 cases of people retiring due to workforce reduction.
(Baonghean.vn) - Voters in several localities have suggested that the province should pilot a mechanism for competitive examinations to select leading officials; and reduce the number of staff by eliminating those who lack the necessary qualifications and capabilities.
Regarding this issue, the relevant authorities have responded as follows::

- Regarding the recruitment of leadership positions: In 2010, Nghe An province piloted the recruitment of leadership positions at the departmental and divisional levels within various agencies. The Department of Internal Affairs was selected as the pilot site and successfully recruited two Deputy Heads of Departments. Currently, the province is awaiting the government's policy and plan for the recruitment of leaders at all levels through competitive examinations.

- Regarding the downsizing of personnel: Currently, Nghe An province is actively implementing Resolution 39-NQ-BCT of the Politburo and Decree 108/2014/ND-CP dated November 20, 2014, of the Government on the policy of downsizing personnel. As of April 2016, the entire province had 620 people approved by the Ministry of Interior to retire under the downsizing program. Of these, 431 people retired because their training qualifications did not meet the standards and their professional competence did not meet the requirements and tasks.
Nghe An is the best performing locality in the country so far.
