Nghe An has 7 intermodal transport routes to Laos.

(Baonghean.vn) - In recent years, Nghe An has focused on developing the Vietnam - Laos intermodal transport service, with 7 fixed routes to Vientiane, Xieng Khouang, Lac Xao, Thakhek, Luang Prabang, with a frequency of 158 trips/month.

This is one of the impressive figures when looking back at the results of Nghe An's foreign affairs activities with the Lao PDR from 2011 to present.

Regarding development assistance activities, over the past 5 years, Nghe An province has used a total budget of more than 113 billion VND to provide aid to the provinces of Laos. Implementing the contents of the 37th meeting of the Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam Intergovernmental Committee and the Vietnam - Laos Cooperation Agreement in 2015, Nghe An province was assigned by the Vietnamese Government to be the investor of the Xieng Khouang Provincial Friendship Hospital Construction Project. Currently, the Lao Ministry of Planning and Investment is appraising and approving the project.

Regarding transportation development, Nghe An has supported Hua Phan province with a budget of VND 9.96 billion to design the investment project to build a road connecting provincial road 3206, Xam Tay district to Thong Thu border gate, Que Phong district. In addition, Nghe An also coordinated to advise on the investment project to build the Vientiane - Pac Xan - Thanh Thuy - Hanoi expressway.

In particular, Nghe An also focuses on developing the Vietnam - Laos intermodal transport service. Up to now, there have been 7 fixed transport routes from Nghe An to the capital Vientiane, the provinces of Xieng Khouang, Lac Xao, Thakhek, Luang Prabang of Laos with a frequency of 158 trips/month.

Regarding economic development cooperation activities, Nghe An authorities have increased the import and export of goods to the Lao market. In the period 2011-2016, the total import and export turnover between Nghe An and Laos increased by 52.38%, from 52.09 million USD in 2011 to 79.37 million USD in 2016.

Currently, there are about 90 Nghe An enterprises directly investing and doing business in the Lao market with a total investment capital of projects of more than 200 million USD.

In other fields such as culture, sports, tourism, Nghe An also pays much attention, currently renovating and upgrading the Exhibition Room on the life and revolutionary career of President Kaysone Phomvihane at the Nghe Tinh Soviet Museum; at the same time, organizing many cultural exchange activities with provinces of the Lao PDR, especially promoting the Vi and Giam fish people of Nghe Tinh.

International travel businesses in the province have stepped up cooperation with tourism businesses in Lao provinces to exploit the tourist route from Nghe An to Bolikhamxay - Kham Muon; the tourist route from Nghe An to Vientiane - Xieng Khouang - Luang Prabang and vice versa.
