Nghe An: Industry and tourism grow strongly in the first 5 months of the year

On the morning of May 23, under the chairmanship of comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial People's Committee held its regular meeting in May to listen to and give opinions on a number of important contents. The Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee, members of the committee and leaders of departments and branches also attended.

Industry and tourism increased quite well.

According to the Department of Planning and Investment, in May, the basic crops met the planned targets. Currently, farmers are mainly focusing on taking care of crops and preventing diseases in spring crops. Nam Dan district has been recognized by the Prime Minister as meeting new rural standards; up to now, the whole province has 181 communes recognized as meeting new rural standards.

The industrial production development index increased by 19.29% over the same period in 2017. In the first 5 months, the industrial production development index increased by nearly 18% over the same period; of which the mining industry decreased by 7.66%; the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 19.45%; the production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning increased by 11.18%; water supply, wastewater and waste management and treatment increased by 11.31%.

In May 2018, many important events took place in the province. In addition, due to the prolonged hot weather, the beaches of Cua Lo, Dien Chau, Quynh Luu, Hoang Mai attracted a large number of tourists, especially during the holidays of April 30 and May 1. Therefore, the number of tourists in May 2018 increased sharply, estimated at 835,000 people; in the first 5 months, the number of tourists to Nghe An is estimated at 2,822,000, an increase of 8% over the same period; total revenue from tourists is estimated at 2,771 billion VND, an increase of 15%.

Budget revenue in the first 5 months of 2018 is estimated at 4,960.27 billion VND, reaching 39.1% of the estimate, up 6% over the same period.

Some cultural and social fields continue to have positive changes.

4 district-level units have not yet issued administrative reform projects.

At the meeting, delegates focused on evaluating the implementation results in socio-economic fields; limitations related to sand and gravel mining, minerals, violations in land management; urging the progress of investment projects; 5 years of implementing Resolution 26 of the Politburo...

According to the Department of Home Affairs, there are currently 4 units that have not issued a project to implement administrative reform in the period of 2018 - 2020, some specific solutions in 2018 according to regulations including Cua Lo Town, Thai Hoa Town, Nghi Loc, Tuong Duong.

Speaking about the progress of investment projects, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Hoa said that currently, most of the projects are still stuck with procedures related to land and land use planning approval..."The province is trying to attract investment to increase revenue, but many large investors are stuck, we are making things difficult for ourselves" - the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized.

After listening to the opinions of the delegates attending the meeting and giving directions for the tasks in the coming time, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong requested departments, branches and localities to urge and inspect the implementation of the 2018 plan; deploy and organize a review of 2.5 years of implementing the Resolution of the 18th Provincial Party Congress, term 2015 - 2020 and the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress; and summarize 5 years of implementing Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

To ensure the successful implementation of the 2018 plan targets, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested each department and sector to proactively review and develop specific growth scenarios for each industry, each field, each key product, clearly identifying specific targets and solutions to promote growth. Focus on removing difficulties, facilitating production, business, supporting the market; strongly developing industry, focusing on processing and manufacturing industries; supporting industries, industries serving agriculture associated with advantages in developing agricultural, forestry and fishery raw materials...

Also this morning, delegates listened to and commented on the Draft Resolution of the Provincial People's Council amending and supplementing Resolution No. 40/2016/NQ-HDND dated December 16, 2016 of the Provincial People's Council on business registration fees in Nghe An and the Draft Resolution of the Provincial People's Council on handling the results of reviewing legal documents issued by the Nghe An Provincial People's Council from December 31, 2017 and earlier, which are still in effect.
