The socio-economic situation has achieved quite positive results.

According to the Summary Report on the Socio-Economic Situation in the First Quarter presented by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duc - Director of the Department of Planning and Investment at the press conference, the socio-economic development situation in the province has achieved quite positive results. Accordingly, Nghe An province continues to seriously, comprehensively and drastically implement Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP of the Government on safe and flexible adaptation and effective control of the Covid-19 epidemic in the area.

Economically, all regions have had good growth, with an estimated gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth rate of 6.71%, ranking 20th out of 63 provinces and cities and 2nd among the provinces in the North Central region. State budget revenue is estimated at VND 4,854 billion, reaching 32.4% of the estimate, up 5.2% over the same period in 2021. Budget expenditure is estimated at VND 8,165 billion, reaching 26.3% of the estimate.

Regarding new rural construction, up to March 2022, 299/411 communes met new rural standards, 15 communes met advanced new rural standards, 1 commune met model new rural standards, and 6 district-level units had decisions recognizing the completion of construction tasks and meeting new rural standards.

In addition, industrial production still maintained a good growth rate, service industries such as trade, accommodation, catering, transportation... are on the path of recovery. The number of tourists is estimated at more than 1 million, up 2.24% over the same period. The total outstanding debt of credit institutions in the area is estimated at VND 249,991 billion, up 3.04%; mobilized capital in the whole area is estimated at VND 182,855 billion, up 4.2% over the beginning of the year.

The cultural and social fields continue to receive attention and direction. Educational institutions in the area are preparing well for students at all levels to return to school.

During the discussion session chaired by the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Information and Communications, reporters and journalists from local press agencies raised many issues requesting representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches, sectors and localities to directly answer and clarify.

5 journalists and reporters directly mentioned 15 contents and were provided with additional information by 9 representatives of departments, branches and sectors at the press conference. In general, these are all issues that have been of public interest in recent times, such as: Inspection results at Nghe An Urban Environment Company, Truong Son project; operational efficiency of pumping stations under the Mong village project, progress of some projects, information on newly registered businesses in the real estate sector, the Viet A test kit incident, data on students returning to school, personnel work, procedures for seconding civil servants in some localities...

Speaking at the press conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long said that the province always pays attention to promptly updating information on the socio-economic situation and important activities for the press, while re-emphasizing some positive results in the first quarter of 2022.

“Almost all activities have returned to normal as before, it can be affirmed that the epidemic has been controlled, thanks to which we have maintained good economic growth momentum…”, said Mr. Bui Dinh Long, while emphasizing that the province still needs to focus on safe, flexible and effective adaptation solutions, because the risk of the epidemic is still present, with hundreds of new cases recorded every day in the area.

In the second quarter, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that press agencies continue to accompany, devote more news, articles, and propaganda time to contents related to 9 groups of key tasks and solutions that the Provincial People's Committee has proposed to focus on directing and organizing implementation in the coming time, especially revolving around contents such as improving the investment and business environment, attracting businesses to invest, promoting the image of the homeland and country to attract more tourists to the province's tourist destinations...
