Nghe An has allocated more than 2,700 tons of rice to support students in disadvantaged areas.
(Baonghean.vn) - This is the State's policy for children of ethnic minorities, students in difficult circumstances in communes and villages with special difficulties in mountainous ethnic minority areas, particularly difficult communes in coastal and island areas, and ethnic minority boarding schools.
On the morning of May 9, comrade Le Van Thoi - Deputy General Director of the General Department of State Reserves and the working delegation worked with the Department of Education and Training to grasp the situation of supporting national reserve rice for Nghe An students according to the provisions of Decree 116/2016/ND - CP of the Government.

According to the plan, in the 2018-2019 school year, Nghe An province will have 20,244 students supported with rice, concentrated in 12 districts: Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Tan Ky, Anh Son, Nghia Dan, Thanh Chuong, Que Phong, Quy Chau, Quy Hop, Quynh Luu and Thai Hoa town.
Recently, as soon as the decision to export rice to support students was issued by the General Department of State Reserves, the Department of Education and Training promptly advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a Decision on rice allocation and coordinate with departments, offices and districts to urgently and promptly transport and export rice to delivery locations in districts in accordance with regulations, ensuring progress according to plan.
Currently, the total amount of rice distributed by the General Department of National Reserves is 2,769.99 tons. Nghe An has allocated 2,729.310 tons of support. The remaining 40 tons that have not been allocated are being stored at the Nghe Tinh Reserve Department's warehouse because after the allocation, the number of students needing support is lower than when the plan was made (because students dropped out of school, there were changes in regional adjustments).
At the meeting, comrade Le Van Thoi - Deputy Director General of the General Department of State Reserves highly appreciated Nghe An's efforts in providing sufficient and timely rice for students in especially difficult areas.

Thereby, it has created conditions for children of poor families to participate in learning, minimized the number of students dropping out of school, ensured social security in the area and contributed to training and developing local human resources in localities.
At the meeting, the delegation also listened to Nghe An's opinions on the existing problems and obstacles in the implementation process such as difficulties in transportation, the planning process was not close to reality because it had to be reported early (before June 30), so it was not close to reality; the unit price for transporting rice from the center to educational institutions was not suitable because the State price was lower than the actual price...
All these opinions will also be received by the General Department of State Reserves and members of the delegation to make adjustments in the next revision of the Decree.
