Due to the steep terrain of the village, the sand and gravel, after being purchased, are only stockpiled at the foot of the slope. Then, the villagers have to put them in baskets and carry them up to the location where the concrete is poured. Seeing that road construction was essential, every household enthusiastically participated, with many families having 2-3 people involved. Ms. Kha Thi Khuyen (1944) shared: "I'm old now and can't carry things up the steep slope anymore, but I still come here to help the children shovel sand and gravel into the buckets." |

| While the women carried sand and gravel, the men mixed and poured concrete for the road foundation. Everyone had their own task, without being told what to do, but everyone felt responsible for quickly completing their work. |

| Although the work is somewhat arduous, everyone feels happy to contribute to making their village more beautiful and well-maintained. Mr. Luong Van May, head of Hat village, Yen Tinh commune, said: “The village has 7 roads, and in 2018 we completed the concrete paving of 4 of them. These days, we are mobilizing the people to continue contributing labor and resources to complete the remaining 3. Up to this point in 2018, the people have contributed nearly 2,000 man-days of labor to concrete the village roads.” Mr. May added. |
