Nghe An invests 150 billion VND to build sea dykes and plant trees to prevent waves.
(Baonghean.vn) - In early May 2020, Nghe An will start building a sea dike worth over 150 billion VND in Hoang Mai town to protect residential areas in coastal localities.

This sea dike project is designed to be 2 km long and will be built in Dong Hoi area, belonging to Quynh Lap and Quynh Lien communes and Quynh Phuong ward, Hoang Mai town, Nghe An province.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Thanh - Head of Nghe An Irrigation Sub-Department said: The sea dike project will be implemented from the beginning of May 2020, combining the construction of traffic roads on the dike and the implementation of additional planting of hundreds of hectares of mangrove forests in Quynh Lien commune and Quynh Phuong ward. According to the plan, this sea dike project and wave-breaking tree planting will be completed and put into use on December 31. This dike line, when put into use, will protect over 20,000 households and thousands of hectares of crops in coastal areas.
Also this year, Nghe An Irrigation Department will start construction of the Quynh Luong (Quynh Luu) sea dike, more than 2 km long (this dike was left unfinished 10 years ago).

(Baonghean.vn) - In addition to being encroached upon for construction material trading, recently, along the sea dike through Quynh Thuan commune (Quynh Luu) has been turned into a garbage collection site, causing environmental pollution.

More than 1,000 meters of sea dike in Quynh Luu are at risk of breaking.
(Baonghean.vn) - Through inspection, the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention of Quynh Luu district (Nghe An) determined that more than 1,000 meters of river and sea dykes were damaged and eroded, at risk of breaking during the rainy season.
