(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An currently has more than 1400 historical sites, of which 358 have been classified. However, over time, many of these sites have become ruins or severely damaged. This is also the main reason why preserving artifacts at these sites is difficult, and many valuable artifacts have been damaged...
This series of photos was taken by a reporter from Nghe An Newspaper at several historical sites in the province.

| Xuan Hoa Temple, located in Quynh Xuan commune, Hoang Mai town, is a historical and cultural site recognized as a National Historical Monument in 1997. However, after many years, many parts of the temple have deteriorated, and restoration work has been done haphazardly (In the photo: The temple is surrounded by overgrown bushes, and the waiting area has been rebuilt by locals in a new architectural style that does not conform to the original). |
| The temple still preserves many precious wooden artifacts, showcasing the exquisite skill of ancient craftsmen. However, despite being hundreds of years old, these artifacts have not been regularly preserved and restored, resulting in many being damaged by mold or termites. |
| The temple also currently houses many valuable imperial decrees and ancient books written in Chinese characters. However, none of these artifacts remain intact, despite the temple management's efforts to carefully store them in boxes. |
| The temple management board stated: "Our greatest wish right now is to receive support to digitize all the remaining royal decrees. This needs to be done soon because in just a few years, there is a risk that all the royal decrees will no longer be preserved." |
| In addition, some of the elaborately embroidered tapestries have been torn and tattered, rendering them devoid of artistic value. |
| The Dinh Bat Tuy Temple is also a valuable national historical relic in Hung Trung commune, Hung Nguyen district. Among its features, the temple's three-arched gate is one of the few remaining in the area. |
| The wooden palanquin is also a valuable artifact, but in the damp, cramped conditions, preserving it intact is very difficult. Mold has distorted the artifact's color. |
| Also located in Hung Trung commune, Bui Ngoa Pagoda is a provincial-level historical relic. However, the current restoration of the pagoda faces many difficulties, with many parts in disrepair. The area in front of and within the pagoda grounds has been haphazardly restored by local people with many different designs. In addition, many parts are still temporary in nature. |
| Cho Sy communal house is also a valuable historical site in Dien Chau district. It was once a bustling trading center for the local people. |
| However, this is now a dumping ground for waste from small traders doing business at Sy Market. |

The stone stele at Trung Can Temple in Nam Trung commune, Nam Dan district, has been damaged and broken into ruins. Current statistics show that over 50% of the approximately 1,400 historical sites throughout the province have been severely damaged and degraded, which is the main reason why preserving these sites and artifacts is so difficult. |
