Nghe An won 11 gold medals at the Central Chess - Chinese Chess Tournament
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An won many medals and ranked second overall at the 2020 Central Region Chess - Chinese Chess Tournament for age groups, which closed on the morning of February 5.
The 18th Central Region Open Chess - Chinese Chess Tournament for Age Groups in 2020 was organized by the Vietnam Chess Federation in coordination with the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An. Athletes competed for 120 sets of medals (60 sets of individual medals and 60 sets of team medals), opening from February 2.
This tournament has 15 participating delegations with nearly 300 athletes from provinces, cities, industries and clubs competing in 6 age groups with two categories of Chess and Chinese Chess and three competition events including Standard Chess, Rapid Chess and Blitz Chess.

This tournament is held annually in the first days of the new year and is also an opportunity for athletes to exchange and learn, compete between provinces, cities and sectors in the Central region to evaluate the chess movement in the region, thereby preparing forces for national and international youth tournaments.
After 4 days of competition, the closing ceremony took place on the morning of February 5th right after the last competition. At this tournament, the host athletes from Nghe An competed quite successfully, winning 11 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals in Chess.
Da Nang delegation still showed superiority in this tournament when they ranked first overall, while Quang Binh delegation ranked third.

Some Nghe An Chess athletes continued to show their potential when they excellently won gold medals in both individual and team events such as: Nguyen Hoang Hai, Nguyen Dinh Trung, Tran Thi Diem Quynh, Nguyen Thi Ha Phuong, Phan Thi Quynh An, Nguyen Khanh Linh, Nguyen Dan Le.
