Nghe An won 4 gold medals at the English Math Olympiad
(Baonghean.vn) - This is the 15th time the Hanoi Open Mathematics Competition (HOMC) has been held and it is also the year that Nghe An delegation has the highest achievement with 4 Gold Medals.
The Hanoi Open Mathematics Competition has been held since 2004, founded and run by the Hanoi Mathematical Society. The competition is for students in two age groups: Senior (16-10th grade high school students) and Junior (14-8th grade middle school students). The exam questions and students' work are presented entirely in English.
In 2018, the exam started on March 26 at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School with the participation of 534 students from 22 provinces and cities across the country.
In addition, for the first time, the exam had the participation of international candidates from 9 countries including Poland, Ghana, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, China and Hungary.
During the competition, the students were divided into 2 groups: Group A included 9 foreign teams and 1 representative of the Vietnamese team; Group B included teams from provinces and districts in Hanoi.

Nghe An delegation participated in this competition starting in 2013. After 5 times participating, 2018 was the year the delegation had the best results. In which, for the age group of 10th grade students, the delegation had 6 students participating in the competition, all 6 students won prizes with 4 Gold Medals for students Vu Duc Vinh, Tran Tu Quan, Tran Anh Quoc (Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted) and Dinh Thi Quynh Chau (Do Luong 1 High School).
The two students who won Bronze Medals were Phan Nhat Huy and Phan Nhat Hoang - students of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted. With this achievement, the Nghe An student delegation ranked 2nd in the high school category.

In the 8th grade age group, 5/6 students competing also won medals. Of these, 3 Silver Medals were awarded to Hoang Tien Nguyen, Nguyen Trung Quan (Dang Thai Mai Secondary School, Vinh City), and Le Van Manh (Ly Nhat Quang Secondary School, Do Luong District).
In addition, two students Nguyen Thien Phuc Anh and Le Hai Phong of Ly Nhat Quang Secondary School also won Bronze Medals.
