Nghe An dialogue to remove obstacles in customs procedures for businesses
The dialogue conference aims to resolve difficulties in the process of customs procedures of enterprises in Nghe An.
On the afternoon of June 28, the Provincial Customs Department organized the 2024 Customs - Business Dialogue Conference. Attending were representatives of the Department of Industry and Trade, representatives of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in Nghe An, business associations, and representatives of import and export enterprises in the area.

In 2023 and the first 6 months of 2024, the world situation continues to face many difficulties. In this situation, the Government and relevant ministries and branches have implemented many solutions to promote import and export activities. Ministries and branches have paid attention to supporting businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, to recover and develop production through facilitating administrative procedures, accessing credit, and supporting more open loans, etc.

In Nghe An, the import-export situation in the past 6 months has tended to increase sharply compared to 2023, showing the effectiveness in attracting and creating an investment environment to welcome large projects in the province.
Specifically, in the first 6 months of the year, the total import and export turnover of enterprises carrying out procedures at the Nghe An Provincial Customs Department was 2.22 billion USD, an increase of 53% over the same period in 2023 (1.45 billion USD). Of which, export turnover reached 1.09 billion USD and import turnover reached 1.13 billion USD.

Imported goods are mainly alloy/non-alloy steel; machinery, equipment, components for the production of electronic products; milk carton paper, garment materials for processing and export production, asphalt...; Exported goods are mainly limestone and white limestone powder of all kinds, steel pipes, steel sheets, processed garments, electronic accessories (headphones, chargers, cables...), electric cable sets for cars, car panels, diesel fuel oil...
The number of enterprises conducting import and export activities and registering for procedures at Nghe An Provincial Customs Department is 433 enterprises, an increase of 47% compared to the first 6 months of 2023 (import declarations are 21,021 sheets, export declarations are 16,217 sheets).

Total budget revenue from import and export activities in the first 6 months of 2024 was VND 777.73 billion, reaching 58.6% of the 2024 plan target (VND 1,327 billion), up 19.29% over the same period in 2023 (VND 545.8 billion).
At the dialogue, in an open spirit, 15 businesses submitted 30 issues and recommendations related to customs procedures and import and export of goods.
Based on receiving the recommendations and questions of enterprises, the representative of the Provincial Customs Department answered the contents within its authority; at the same time, said that it will continue to receive and coordinate with relevant agencies to handle.

At the conference, businesses were also guided by customs officers on a number of new documents related to preferential policies and customs procedures; and introduced to the topic of import-export codes that frequently arise at the Nghe An Provincial Customs Department.
On this occasion, the Customs Department awarded pilot enterprise certificates according to Decision 1399/QD-TCHQ to 5 enterprises in the first and second phases.
