(Baonghean.vn) - Pretending to be road workers who had just dug up an antique and offered to sell it at a cheap price, two Tay Ninh men tricked people in the mountainous area of Con Cuong to appropriate their property.

On the morning of August 8, Con Cuong District Police said they were detaining Nguyen Phi Hai (born in 1987, residing in Thuan Hoa hamlet, Loi Thuan commune, Ben Cau district, Tay Ninh province) and Huynh Van Pho (born in 1979, residing in Long Giao hamlet, Long Chu commune, Ben Cau district, Tay Ninh province) to clarify the act of fraudulently selling fake antiques.

Using the trick of pretending to be road workers who had just dug up a rare antique that was actually a fake, the two subjects planned to scam people in some remote villages such as Chau Khe and Cam Lam (Con Cuong district).

At around 12 o'clock on August 7, Hai and Pho, dressed as workers, rode a motorbike with license plate 29D1 - 627.46 into Diem village, Chau Khe commune, Con Cuong district. Seeing Ms. Hien's grocery store open, the two men stopped their motorbike and said, "Do you and anyone here want to buy antiques? We just dug up some. If we bring valuable objects with us, we're afraid of being tabooed and afraid of being called by the police."

Observing, the antiques that the two subjects were selling were two sets of eight immortals and four toads holding coins in their mouths with strange shapes, plated with shiny copper and covered with a lot of mud. Realizing that this object was very familiar and suspicious of the two subjects' actions, Ms. Hien did not buy it. After that, Ms. Hien secretly called the Chau Khe commune police to report.

Upon receiving the report, Chau Khe commune police deployed forces to block roads. When they discovered the two subjects, the commune police asked them to stop the vehicle and conduct an administrative check. The two subjects admitted that they were selling fake antiques to deceive people.

At the police station, these two subjects confessed to buying a set of eight immortals in Saigon for 1.5 million VND, then smearing mud on it to make it look like they had just dug it up at a construction site.

On August 1, two subjects entered Mr. Ha Van Hung's house in Cong village, Cam Lam commune, Con Cuong district. Initially, the two subjects asked to enter the house to wash the newly dug-up objects, then offered to sell them.

They said that a scrap dealer offered 3 taels of gold but refused to sell. To increase their persuasiveness, they arranged for someone else to call and offer 20 million VND for the item, and if it was delivered to their home, they could offer more.

Then the two subjects asked Mr. Hung that because the road was difficult to travel, it would be taboo to carry valuables on their person, so they wanted to leave them to Mr. Hung for 10 million VND. Mr. Hung agreed because he thought he had bought the antique at a bargain price.

At the headquarters, Chau Khe commune police also seized evidence of the two subjects with the amount of 36,750 million VND.
