This winter crop, Nghe An strives to plant nearly 37,800 hectares of winter crops with key crops such as corn, peanuts, various vegetables and beans and raise over 2,600 hectares of the third crop. In particular, it will increase the expansion of vegetable areas of all kinds, especially high-value vegetables, production in the direction of IPM, GAP and application of high technology, ensuring product safety and traceability.
As for corn, it is developed in the direction of growing corn for grain, making green feed for cows and harvesting fresh corn.
The weather is forecast to be complex and unpredictable; Fall Armyworm causing serious damage to corn are significant challenges for winter crop production. In order to minimize damage to production as well as ensure the spring rice crop next year, the agricultural sector has proposed specific solutions regarding timing and techniques.
Based on the time frame and recommended varieties, localities should consider and calculate appropriate planting plans depending on specific situations and flood developments.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong emphasized: Winter crop production in recent years has become a commodity production crop, bringing high economic value to farmers as well as contributing significantly to the agricultural production value of the province.
Localities need to proactively develop plans to develop advantageous agricultural products of the region in association with the consumption market to increase the value of income per unit area, and direct farmers to produce according to the plan. Because this is a production season that is forecasted to have many risks, we should not be subjective and underestimate the difficulties; it is necessary to direct farmers to strictly follow the crop calendar, closely monitor the development of pests and diseases to have timely prevention measures. In particular, this summer-autumn crop, the whole country has 17,000 hectares of corn and Nghe An alone has nearly 1,200 hectares of corn severely damaged by fall armyworm. Therefore, this is one of the pests and diseases that need special attention on this year's winter corn crop.
Localities also need to have support policies, build effective production models, and linkage models in production and consumption to improve the efficiency of winter crop production.
