(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 13, the Ministry of Education and Training held the closing ceremony and awarded prizes to the National Science and Technology Competition for high school students in the 2017-2018 school year, Northern region.

Also attending was comrade Nguyen Thi Nghia - Deputy Minister of Education and Training.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades who are members of the Provincial Party Executive Committee: Le Duc Cuong - Chief of Office of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Thi Kim Chi - Director of the Department of Education and Training, Dinh Xuan Khoa - Principal of Vinh University and students and teachers of 34 delegations participating in the competition from the Northern provinces.

This is the first time Nghe An has hosted this contest. After 4 exciting days, the contest was successfully held and left many beautiful memories for the participants.

Assessing this year's competition, Associate Professor Dr. Nghiem Ngoc Minh - representative of the Jury said: The fields that students researched this year were quite diverse. Many topics had appropriate content and research methods, carried out the research process, recorded logs and presented scientific reports according to the requirements of a scientific work.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Nghia also highly appreciated the preparation work of Nghe An province and the efforts of students and teachers.

From the success of this competition, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training also officially launched the National Science and Technology Competition for high school students in the 2018-2019 school year in Hanoi.

At the closing ceremony, the Ministry of Education and Training awarded Certificates of Merit to the collectives of Nghe An Department of Education and Training, Vinh University and individuals with outstanding achievements.

The Organizing Committee also awarded 124 prizes to the projects, including 13 First prizes, 26 Second prizes, 38 Third prizes, and 47 Fourth prizes. The Hanoi delegation ranked first overall with 25 prizes, including 3 First prizes.

At this competition, Nghe An delegation also excellently ranked second with 2 first prizes, 2 third prizes and 5 fourth prizes.

The two projects that won the First Prize in Nghe An were: The project of the system of distilling salt water into fresh water with vacuum technology using hydraulic pumps by ocean wave energy by two students Mai Nhat Anh and Phung Van Long - Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

The second project is Research on creating bio-cleaner-na biological products and testing the treatment of school toilet environment by students Nguyen Tat Bao Long and Nguyen Manh Hung - Huynh Thuc Khang High School.
