(Baonghean) - After more than 1 year of opening to traffic, although many sections are still not completed, route N5 with a total investment of more than 750 billion VND has had to be repaired many times.

In late October, a group of workers set up a barrier to block one lane of N5 Road adjacent to National Highway 1A for repairs. This repair section stretched for hundreds of meters; most of the road surface had to be scraped clean of asphalt to be completely re-filled, many locations dug up to half a meter deep...

However, there are also many potholes scattered along this route. According to the reporter, some locations are swollen, sunken, and cracked. There are "potholes" with a radius of more than 1 meter, about 20cm deep. Many places even have water stagnant for a long time.

The 4.9 km long N5 Road starts from the intersection with National Highway 1A, then connects with Provincial Road 538B. This route has a total investment of 758 billion VND, and was opened to traffic at the end of April 2017. However, to date, this route has not been completed.

In some sections, vehicles going in opposite directions share the same lane because the adjacent lane is under construction. Specifically, the construction package for the section across the Cam River Bridge and the road leading to the bridge has been unfinished for many months.

Several months after the road opened to traffic, many locations on this route showed signs of damage. Specifically, the section passing through Nghi Dong and Nghi Thuan communes (Nghi Loc district) had muddy surface pavement, cracks in the shape of crow’s feet, forming “potholes”... The construction unit at that time had to peel off the cracked pavement to redo it.

The unfinished road construction is believed to be the cause of a number of accidents recently. Accordingly, in mid-July, Mr. Nguyen Quoc A. was driving a car from Do Luong - Nghi Loc. When he reached a dead-end road due to unfinished construction, it was dark, he could not observe in time to change lanes, the car crashed straight into the median strip; the victim was thrown from the car, dying on the spot....

Meanwhile, many households living on both sides of the road often use the road to dry straw and rice, posing a high risk of traffic accidents./.
