Up to now, the area of ​​rice infected with blast disease in Nghe An is 168.4 hectares, in Hung Nguyen district, Vinh city, Thanh Chuong, Nghi Loc... Blast disease appears on old rice varieties such as: Xi23, AC5, NX30, P6, NA2, IR 1820. Currently, farmers have bought pesticides to spray nearly 60 hectares of rice infected with the disease, with a rate of 20 - 40%.

The largest area is in Hung Nguyen district, on March 17 there were only 33.8 hectares, but now it has grown to 75.7 hectares. Of which, more than 30 hectares have a low infection rate and have not yet had to be sprayed. Up to this point, farmers have sprayed more than 40 hectares, and the rice blast situation in Hung Nguyen has been controlled.

According to the recommendation of the Provincial Plant Protection Department, the current weather has fog in the morning and evening, creating high humidity, along with spring rice growing well after farmers have fertilized and cared for it, creating favorable conditions for rice blast disease to spread and develop strongly on a large scale.

Therefore, local authorities proactively visit fields, do a good job of planning and forecasting, and promptly propagate to farmers to spray pesticides with the motto "4 rights".

According to the recommendation of the Plant Protection Department, in areas of rice infected with the disease, the weather conditions are favorable for the development of rice blast disease, it is necessary to stop applying chemical fertilizers, stimulate growth, keep enough water in the field from 2 - 3 cm and carry out prevention with drugs with specific active ingredients such as: Tricyclazole (Beam 75WP, Kabim, Filia 525SE, Bankan 600WP, Vía 72,5WP); Fenoxanil (Katana 20SC, Ninja 35 EC...). If the disease continues to develop after the first spray, it is necessary to spray again after 5 - 7 days, when the disease stops developing, then fertilize again.
