Nghe An: Nearly 250 models are supported to invest in drip irrigation technology

Mr. Duong Duc Hanh's family, Tan Lap hamlet, Tan Long commune, Tan Ky district, in early 2016, was supported by the district to implement a root irrigation model for 1 hectare of orange trees, according to the province's Decision 87 support policy. Mr. Hanh's root irrigation system is worth 50 million VND, of which the province supported 20 million VND, the rest was invested by the family.
Mr. Hanh said: The well water is pumped up to the tank, from there he turns on the watering valve twice a day, in the morning and evening, each time for 1 hour to ensure moisture for the trees to grow. Thanks to that, the 7-month-old orange garden is almost as tall as a person, with green leaves. Even in the hot summer, the family no longer has to worry about watering the oranges. Using this automatic root irrigation system, orange growers do not have to work hard, especially saving water and electricity, the orange garden grows evenly.

In 2015 and 2016, Tan Ky had 20 orange growing models installed with root irrigation systems, with an area of nearly 30 hectares. Each root irrigation model requires an investment of at least 50 million VND, but when enjoying the province's support policy, orange growers are excited to invest more money for installation.
Mr. Nguyen Tat Hai - Deputy Head of the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: Based on the number of households registered annually, the district conducts a field inspection, then makes a list to request the province to support the implementation of the model. In general, the province's support policy is appropriate and timely for orange growers, most of the models are effective, bringing many benefits to orange growers.

Implementing Decision 87 of the Provincial People's Committee, each year the province provides 3 billion VND to support industrial crop growers to install irrigation systems. According to the report of the Irrigation Department, there are 247 models of households growing oranges, sugarcane, and tea that enjoy this policy, with an area of 318 hectares, of which 209 hectares are oranges, the rest are sugarcane and tea, in the districts: Tan Ky, Quy Hop, Con Cuong, Thanh Chuong, Hoang Mai Town and Ky Son. In 2016, localities are implementing an estimated 245 models, enjoying the policy according to Decision 87 of the Provincial People's Committee.
Decision 87/2014/QD-UBND dated November 17, 2014 has many supporting contents, in which industrial crops: peanuts, tea, sugarcane are entitled to 40% of the value of the project settled by the competent authority (equipment and materials) for small-scale irrigation for industrial crops (tea, coffee, sugarcane), fruit trees (orange, pineapple) and grass planted in a concentrated area of 01 hectare or more for animal feed such as: dug wells, drilled wells, small mobile pumps, PVC or rubber irrigation pipes.
Support 40% of the project value but not more than 20 million VND for 01 small dam with a capacity of 30,000 m3up to 70,000 m3located in the planning area for industrial crop development (tea, coffee, sugarcane), fruit trees (orange, pineapple) to create water source for irrigation and moisture retention. The number of small dams is assigned by the Provincial People's Committee to localities and units annually.
