Nghe An: Nearly 7,000 outstanding examples in the 'Exemplary Veterans' movement

Attending the congress, on behalf of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association, there was Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Dao - Vice President of the Vietnam Veterans Association. On behalf of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Members of the Provincial Party Committee: Cao Thi Hien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Nguyen Nam Dinh - Secretary of the Party Committee of the Provincial Agencies Bloc and 186 delegates representing more than 175,000 members of the Nghe An Provincial Veterans Association.

Over the past 5 years (2014 - 2019), the emulation movement "Exemplary Veterans" of the Association of War Veterans of Nghe An province has been implemented and achieved comprehensive results on the goals and targets set by the 5th Congress; contributing to creating strong motivation, improving quality, efficiency and building a clean and strong association.

The whole association has built 6,971 outstanding examples in various fields of activity... The movement "Veterans help each other to do business, eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, and improve living standards" has been practically and effectively implemented by all levels of the Veterans Association. Up to now, the whole Provincial Association has contributed to building an internal fund with the amount of 89 billion 564 million VND for 11,263 member families to borrow for economic development; contributing to creating jobs for more than 45,000 workers who are children of veterans. The Provincial Veterans Association currently has 553 enterprises, 114 cooperatives, 83 cooperative groups and 1,415 farms, 5,173 households attracting 29,731 workers in the area.

Humanitarian and charitable activities have become regular activities; the association at all levels has eliminated 2,326 dilapidated and makeshift houses for poor members; 160 communes, wards, 11 districts, cities and towns have basically eliminated poverty. Each year, the entire Provincial Association supports and contributes nearly 10 billion VND of various funds; ... The emulation movement "Exemplary veterans, joining hands and hearts to build new rural areas" has developed extensively. As of June 2019, the entire Provincial Association had 21,803 member families donating 856,977m²land, participated in 366,102 working days; contributed 93 billion 500 million VND to build new rural works.

Along with emulation movements, the work of building a clean and strong association organization is always focused on by all levels of the association in terms of politics, ideology and organization. Through annual classification, 95-100% of grassroots associations complete their tasks well, 20% complete them excellently; at district, city and town levels, 100% complete their tasks well; the number of grassroots cadres completing their tasks well each year reaches 60-65%...

Promoting the achieved results, in the period of 2019 - 2024, the Provincial Association of War Veterans will strengthen solidarity, continue to promote the tradition of "Uncle Ho's Army"; compete to reduce poverty quickly and sustainably; actively participate in implementing movements, building a truly clean and strong association in terms of politics, ideology and organization, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress, building Nghe An increasingly rich, beautiful and civilized.

Speaking at the congress, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Dao - Vice President of the Vietnam Veterans Association commended, acknowledged and highly appreciated the great and effective contributions of the emulation movements of the Veterans Association at all levels of Nghe An to the development of the province in recent times. In order to more effectively implement the emulation movement of exemplary veterans, successfully complete the set goals and tasks, the provincial Veterans Association needs to well implement the grassroots democracy regulations; do a good job of propaganda and mobilization, actively participate in socio-economic development, and strengthen national defense and security in the locality. Promoting the good nature of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", cadres and members of the provincial Veterans Association must demonstrate the spirit of revolution, discipline, honesty, fight against negativity, corruption, fight against the disease of achievements, the more difficult the situation, the more innovation and creativity must be...

At the congress, comrade Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council also emphasized and noted a number of tasks of the association in the coming period. That is to continue to do well the work of political education, ideology, revolutionary traditions, the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State. Regularly and closely coordinate with the Fatherland Front and organizations and unions to perform well the functions of supervision, social criticism, and participate in building a strong Party and government. Propaganda and help members actively participate in patriotic emulation movements in the locality; promote the movement of war veterans helping each other reduce poverty and do well in the economy. The War Veterans Association at all levels needs to continue to innovate the content and methods of operation, do well the work of recruiting members to expand the force and enhance the strength of the association.

On this occasion, the Provincial Veterans Association was honored to receive the Emulation Flag of the Government and the Emulation Flag of the Central Vietnam Veterans Association; 1 collective and 1 individual were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Central Vietnam Veterans Association. The Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 9 collectives and 12 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the emulation movement "Exemplary Veterans" in the period 2014 - 2019.
