Nghe An: Meeting with athletes who achieved success at the 28th SEA Games.

(Baonghean.vn) - Recognizing the training process and achievements of the provincial sports delegation, this afternoon (June 30), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a meeting with athletes who achieved success at the 28th SEA Games and the 2015 Southeast Asian Weightlifting Championships. Attending the meeting were Ms. Dinh Thi Le Thanh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Ho Mau Thanh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; representatives from the Sports Training and Coaching Center, SLNA Football Club, along with various departments and athletes who participated in the 28th SEA Games.

Overview of the meeting

The 28th Southeast Asian Games (Sea Games) were held in Singapore from June 5-16, 2015. Nghe An province had the honor of having 6 athletes participating in 4 sports: football, wushu, petanque, and sepak takraw. Among them, 3 athletes from the Sports Training Center competed in wushu, sepak takraw, and petanque, and 3 football players were from the SLNA Football Club.

At the end of the Games, the Vietnamese sports delegation won 73 gold medals, 53 silver medals, and 60 bronze medals, ranking 3rd overall. Contributing to the overall success of the Vietnamese sports delegation, athletes from Nghe An province achieved the following results: Athlete Nguyen Van Tai won 1 gold medal in Wushu and athlete Nguyen Thi Quyen won 2 bronze medals in Sepak Takraw. Notably, a few days after the 28th SEA Games, athlete Le Thi Tham (weightlifting) participated in the 1st Southeast Asian Weightlifting Championships held in Thailand and performed excellently, winning a gold medal in the 69 kg category with a total lift of 215 kg.
