Doctor Ha Van Quynh, Deputy Director of Tay Nam Nghe An Hospital, who directly treated the patients, said: the hospital prescribed detoxification fluids, diuretics, and sedatives. At this point, the whole family has passed the critical stage. The patient is awake and aware of his surroundings. He is currently continuing treatment to stabilize his condition. The doctor also said that to know clearly what poisons the plant contains, there needs to be research and conclusions from the provincial and central level specialists.

Mr. Vi - the most seriously injured elderly person in the poisoning incident is being treated at the hospital.

Ms. Huong added that in the family dinner, they only ate two dishes: braised pork and stir-fried vegetables. That strange vegetable was stir-fried with purslane, which tasted bitter and smelled a bit. About an hour after eating, her body was red and swollen, her eyes were blurry, and her tongue was stiff. The family received seeds from a relative in Dak Lak to plant that strange vegetable, also known as amaranth. No one here grows or sells this vegetable. It was the first time the family ate this vegetable.
