Meanwhile, due to storms and rain, and at a time when green vegetables are scarce, the price of vegetables has increased sharply, with some types of vegetables increasing in price by 2-3 times.

According to records, pork prices at local markets range from 80,000 - 120,000 VND/kg (depending on the type). Specifically, pork belly and spare ribs cost 120,000 VND/kg; shoulder and rump meat cost 90,000 VND/kg; ear and trotter meat cost 70,000 - 80,000 VND/kg.

In rural markets, meat prices are only 70,000 - 100,000 VND. In supermarkets and clean food stores, meat prices have also decreased slightly from 15,000 - 20,000 VND/kg.

Ms. Ha Thi Anh Nhung, a pork trader at Quan Lau market, said: “This time, the price of live pigs has dropped sharply, and the price of pork has also been adjusted down deeply. Accordingly, each kilogram of meat has decreased by 30,000-50,000 VND.”

Mr. Nguyen Van Kiem, owner of a restaurant in Quan Hanh town, Nghi Loc said: “The epidemic has caused customers to change their eating habits. Instead of going to restaurants, they choose to eat at home. Therefore, if before, normally every day, the restaurant used about 10kg of pork to prepare dishes to serve diners, now, due to the decrease in customers, only about 2kg of meat is needed.”

Specifically, water spinach has increased from 4,000-5,000 VND/bunch to 7,000-8,000 VND/bunch; Chinese cabbage, Chinese broccoli, and Chinese bok choy from 15,000-17,000 VND/kg to 25,000-30,000 VND/kg; squash from 15,000 VND/kg to 30,000 VND/kg; especially, green onions have increased from 25,000 VND/kg to 70,000 VND/kg; and spices from 5,000 VND/large bunch to 14,000 VND/large bunch.
