Nghe An: Pork prices remain high, consumers must be careful when buying
(Baonghean.vn) - Although the price of pork has cooled down somewhat, it is still at a high level. For low-income workers, students, etc., choosing pork in their daily meals at this time makes them have to consider a lot.
According to a survey by PV, pork prices at markets in Vinh City are still high. At Vinh market, the price of lean pork is 150,000 VND/kg, the price of pork belly and ribs is from 125,000 - 130,000 VND/kg. Compared to a week ago, it has decreased slightly, however, this is still a "hard to swallow" price for most consumers.

Ms. Phan Hoai Thuong, Hong Son Ward (Vinh City) said: My family has 2 small children, living with grandparents, so choosing reasonable daily food is very important. Pork is the family's daily menu, but since it has increased to 150,000 VND/kg, we have to consider a lot.
That is also the common psychology of most consumers at this time. For low-income workers and students, choosing pork for daily meals is a headache for many people. Nguyen Ngoc Quynh, a student at Vinh University, shared: "Before, I could buy pork for the main meal, but now I only dare to buy a small amount to make a side dish in food preparation."

The sharp increase in pork prices has also led to an increase in meat products. The prices of ham, sausages, etc. made from pork have also increased by 20-30% compared to normal days. Restaurants and eateries must calculate carefully before importing these foods for sale.
Explaining the high price of finished pork, many traders said: The high price of imported live pigs has caused the price of finished pork to increase as well. On the other hand, the current supply of pork in the market has been heavily affected by African swine fever, so the increase in pork prices was predictable.
"When the epidemic broke out, people were afraid of pork. Now that the epidemic has shown signs of slowing down and many places have announced the end of the epidemic, people are returning to consuming pork. Therefore, the increase in pork prices is understandable," said a pork vendor at Vinh University market.

In the districts, pork prices are also at record levels in recent years. Mr. Hoang Quoc Hai, owner of a pig farm in Na Den village, Tien Phong commune (Que Phong) said: The price of live pigs in Que Phong district on the morning of December 1 reached 75,000 VND/kg, causing the price of pork to increase to 130,000 VND/kg. The price of commercial pigs such as black pigs and wild pigs is even higher. This will cause difficulties for people in the mountains.
Many consumers have chosen chicken, eggs, fish, beef... instead of pork, but the prices of these foods have also increased slightly by about 20% compared to before.
