Nghe AnThe province has advantages in developing a marine economy, primarily through the exploitation and harvesting of seafood. Currently, the province has 2,337 fishing vessels operating at sea, with the highest numbers in the following localities: Hoang Mai town (894 vessels), Quynh Luu district (605 vessels), and Dien Chau district (566 vessels).

According to data from the Fisheries Department, in May, the catch volume...seafoodThe catch reached over 18,000 tons, bringing the total seafood catch for the first five months of the year to 75,564 tons, equivalent to 109.39% compared to the same period last year, with an estimated value of over 1,507 billion VND. Consumption was more difficult but still fully sold, mainly to the domestic market and for processing into fish sauce and dried goods.

This includes 110 tons of shrimp, nearly 13,000 tons of selected fish, nearly 30,000 tons of mixed fish, nearly 1,000 tons of various types of squid, nearly 4,000 tons of crab, and the rest is miscellaneous fish and other species.

Nghe An province plans to harvest 170,000 tons of seafood in 2021.
