Nghe An: Father and son were struck to death by lightning while sleeping

(Baonghean.vn) - The older daughter heard the thunder and woke up, ran to her mother and escaped death. Unfortunately, the father and the younger daughter were struck by lightning and died in bed.

Early in the morning of October 4, 2017, in Thanh Xuan commune, Thanh Chuong district, there was heavy rain and thunder. At around 3:00 a.m., Nguyen Huu Dinh (born in 1989), Xuan Dung 2 hamlet, Thanh Xuan commune and his daughter Nguyen Hai Yen (born in 2013) were struck to death by lightning while sleeping in bed.

Before that, Mr. Dinh and his two daughters were sleeping. His wife and their youngest daughter, who was only 2 months old, slept separately in another bed. Hearing the thunder, the eldest daughter, Nguyen Thi Tam (born in 2011), woke up and ran to her mother and sister, thus escaping death. Mr. Dinh and his second daughter were unfortunately struck by lightning and died on the spot.

Dinh’s family is poor, with a wife and 3 daughters, the youngest of whom is only 2 months old. The family has a registered residence in Xuan Dung 2 hamlet, but now moves to Xuan Thao hamlet to farm for a living.

It is known that the house Mr. Dinh is living in is a level 4 tiled house. At the scene, the power line was struck by lightning and burned, the outer covering was peeled off, leaving only the core.
