Nghe An: Numerous hydroelectric reservoirs begin releasing floodwaters.

Starting at 2 PM on May 30th, the Khe Bo hydroelectric reservoir is expected to increase its water discharge to ensure safety. Prior to this, a number of hydroelectric power plants in Nghe An province had already begun regulating their reservoir water levels.

At 9:22 AM on May 30th, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, and Civil Defense received notification No. 131 dated May 30th from the Khe Bo Hydropower Plant regarding the operation and water regulation of the Khe Bo Hydropower Plant reservoir to ensure the safety of the structure.

To ensure the safe regulation of water levels in the Khe Bo Hydropower Plant reservoir in accordance with the approved single-reservoir and multi-reservoir operating procedures on the Ca River basin, the Khe Bo Hydropower Plant plans to operate the Khe Bo hydropower reservoir water regulation as follows:

Expected discharge time through the spillway:At 2 PM on May 30, 2024.

Discharge rate:Total discharge flow is approximately 500m³.3/s up to 1,200m3/s (discharge through the turbines and through the spillway) and may vary depending on the inflow of water into the reservoir.

Time of completion of water discharge through the spillway:Until the water inflow into the reservoir is less than the water flow through the generating units.

The Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, and Civil Defense hereby informs the People's Committees of the districts of Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Anh Son, Do Luong, Thanh Chuong, Nam Dan, Hung Nguyen, and Vinh City; the heads of provincial departments and agencies; and the Road Management Area II to notify all levels of government, agencies, units, investors currently constructing along and on the river, owners of water transport vehicles, and all people in the downstream area of ​​the Khe Bo Hydropower Plant to implement necessary measures to ensure the safety of lives and property of the State and the people.

Earlier, starting at 1:30 AM on May 30th, a series of hydroelectric reservoirs in the area began regulating water levels to ensure safety: Chau Thang hydroelectric reservoir (Muong Ngoc, Que Phong), Chi Khe hydroelectric reservoir (Con Cuong); Nam Giai hydroelectric reservoir, Song Quang hydroelectric reservoir, Ban Coc hydroelectric reservoir (Que Phong), Nam Mo hydroelectric reservoir (Ta Ca, Ky Son), Ban Ang hydroelectric reservoir (Tuong Duong).
