In My Son commune alone, out of 150 hectares of newly sown rice fields that were flooded, over 80 hectares required farmers to replant up to four times. In Minh Son commune, nearly 20 hectares suffered damage for the second time. The previous time, after the farmers had finished sowing, heavy rains washed away all the newly sprouted rice.

Mr. Tran Phi Hung - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural DevelopmentThanh Chuong districtReports indicate that as of noon on June 13th, 271 hectares of summer-autumn rice fields remain flooded. The most affected areas are the communes of Thanh An, Dai Dong, Ngoc Son, and Thanh Lam.

"Currently, the rain has stopped, and the district has instructed the communes to guide farmers to go to the fields to clear the irrigation ditches so that the water recedes quickly, avoiding prolonged flooding which would affect the rice crops," said Mr. Tran Phi Hung.

Heavy rains have also caused flooding in some areas of summer-autumn rice crops in Nam Dan district. According to the District Agricultural Department, the rains have flooded summer-autumn rice crops in the remote communes of Nam Cat, Nam Anh, Nam Nghia, and Nam Giang, and damaged some watermelon crops in Thuong Tan Loc commune. Local authorities are currently compiling specific data and focusing on draining floodwaters from the affected fields.
