Nghe An: Vietnamese goods account for 90% of supermarkets

(Baonghean.vn) - According to assessments, the quantity of Vietnamese goods consumed has increased significantly, with goods of domestic origin accounting for 90% of the total number of goods sold at supermarkets in Nghe An.

On the morning of August 4, the Steering Committee of the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" in Nghe An province held a meeting to review the first 6 months and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of the year. Comrade Nguyen Van Huy - Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee chaired the meeting.

Nghe An is a province with a relatively large number of enterprises and business households. The whole province has 11,868 enterprises and 143,479 households participating in business activities, creating a widely developed commercial network with a diverse and growing volume of goods in circulation.

Through the campaign, the awareness of the political system and all classes of people and consumers in the province about prioritizing the use of Vietnamese goods has been raised. Consumers in the province increasingly appreciate and gradually develop the habit of preferring to use Vietnamese goods. The quantity of Vietnamese goods consumed has increased significantly, the group of goods originating in Vietnam has accounted for 90% of the total number of goods sold in supermarkets, accounting for 70% in markets and rural markets.

Enterprises' awareness of investing in, improving the quality and competitiveness of products and services, fulfilling commitments to protect consumer rights, and building brands for Vietnamese products and goods has had positive changes.

According to the report of the Department of Industry and Trade, in the first 6 months of the year, it approved the organization of more than 19 promotional programs; directed the organization of 14 exhibition fairs in the province. Each year, about 40 fairs are held in the province. In order to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese goods to reach consumers, the work of inspecting and controlling the market, detecting counterfeit goods, poor quality goods, and goods of unknown origin has been strengthened. In the first 6 months of the year, 4,289 cases were inspected, 3,681 cases were handled, with a total fine of over 6.7 billion VND.

In addition, mass organizations such as the Provincial Women's Union, the Provincial Labor Federation, the Business Bloc Party Committee, the Veterans Association, the Farmers' Association, etc. also participated and had many positive results for the campaign. In particular, the Provincial Women's Union in 6 months built 4 models of women saying no to dirty food; 15 cooperative groups, 14 groups associated with many diverse industries, etc., thereby contributing to promoting the quality and services of Vietnamese enterprises in the market.

At the meeting, members of the Steering Committee evaluated the results and limitations in the direction and implementation as well as discussed solutions and tasks for the last 6 months of the year. Besides the achieved results, propaganda work is still limited, the foreign-oriented mentality in consumption still exists, and the connection between production and consumption of domestic products still has many shortcomings. There are not many branded products in the area, market management is still not good, fake, poor quality and counterfeit goods are still complicated, affecting the image of Vietnamese goods.

From now until the end of the year, the Steering Committee will focus on propaganda activities, informing the contents of the Campaign to all classes of people, propagating to consumers to know how to correctly evaluate the quality of products, goods, services, production and business capacity of enterprises in the province and in the country.

The Party Executive Committee of the Provincial People's Committee directed specialized agencies to review and supplement legal regulations to complete policies and mechanisms to support production, works and projects using the provincial budget, strictly control spending in agencies, prioritize the use of goods in the province and domestically for public procurement; develop a plan to well organize the program of bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas...

The Steering Committee of the campaign will also strengthen coordination between departments, branches, the Fatherland Front and member organizations, integrate the campaign's content into regular activities of the front and member organizations, associated with the implementation of the campaigns "all people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas", "trade unions accompany workers", "Women help each other develop sustainable economy"... to mobilize people to purchase quality domestically produced goods, provide information to authorities on the fight against counterfeit goods, smuggling and trade fraud./.
