Nghe An province achieves its dual goals for the 2020-2021 school year.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of August 19th, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to summarize the 2020-2021 school year and implement tasks for the 2021-2022 school year.
Completed the school year goals as planned.
In his opening remarks at the conference, the DirectorDepartment of Education and TrainingThe report highlighted 10 achievements of Nghe An's education sector in the 2020-2021 school year, notably the sector's successful completion of the school year's tasks amidst the complex developments of the Covid-19 pandemic nationwide. Therefore, while many localities had not yet completed the school year, and some had to resort to graduation assessment methods, Nghe An completed the school year according to plan, successfully organizing the 10th grade entrance exams and the 2021 high school graduation exams.

This was also the school year in which Nghe An achieved many accomplishments across all four levels of education, thanks to its proactive and effective implementation.General education programIn 2018, the focus was on developing modern, integrated teaching programs and content aimed at global citizens, innovating teaching methods and assessment techniques to improve the overall quality of education at each level.

The sector has also promptly advised the Provincial People's Council and the Provincial People's Committee to issue important resolutions and decisions on education and training. In particular, it was the first unit in the country to advise the Provincial People's Council to pass a resolution stipulating the maximum collection rates for service fees, support, and educational activities… contributing to the implementation of the 2019 Education Law.

At the end of the 2020-2021 school year, Nghe An province improved its high school graduation exam results by 7 ranks. The entire province had 1valedictorianNationwide, many students achieved second place and were among the top 10. The quality of advanced education continued to be maintained with 81 students winning awards at the national excellent student competition, and 5 students winning Gold and Silver medals at regional and international Olympic competitions – ranking first nationwide. Many students from Nghe An also made significant marks at national competitions. For the first time, Nghe An students won first prize in the "National Youth and Children's Innovation Competition," and one project won second prize in the student and university student startup idea competition.
Improving the overall quality of education.
Speaking at the meeting, many localities shared their experiences in implementing two-session-per-day teaching, strengthening English language teaching and life skills training, and developing high-quality key schools. In his concluding remarks at the meeting, Comrade Bui Dinh Long acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the Nghe An Education sector during the past school year.
However, alongside the achievements, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also noted three shortcomings: inadequacies in the planning of the school network, a shortage of teachers at many educational levels, dilapidated school buildings in many areas, and a lack of teaching and learning equipment. Objectively speaking, the overall quality of education is at an average-high level compared to the rest of the country.
Regarding the direction and tasks for the next school year, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee agreed with the solutions proposed by the Education sector. In addition, Mr. Bui Dinh Long also noted two issues. Firstly, regarding the scale of schools, the aim is to eliminate scattered schools in mountainous districts and move towards building boarding schools at all levels. To achieve this effectively, the primary responsibility lies with the local authorities. To improve the quality of teaching and learning, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that the Education sector should do a good job of evaluating teaching and learning in schools. This will provide a comprehensive view of leadership and organization in teaching and learning. From there, each principal and each teacher will understand their responsibility and recognize that quality is the measure of the quality of education in their schools.
As the new school year approaches amidst a complex pandemic situation, Comrade Bui Dinh Long requested that the entire education sector promptly review the safety conditions for disease prevention at all schools, ensuring students can attend school safely. In addition, it is necessary to properly manage initial school year revenue and expenditure, absolutely preventing any instances of excessive fees.
