Nghe An: More than 131.8 billion VND to support Tet for the poor in the Spring of Quy Mao 2023

On the evening of January 3, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province solemnly organized the Tet Program for the Poor in the Spring of Quy Mao 2023 with the theme "Warm Tet - Compassion for compatriots".

10 YEARS, MOBILIZED MORE THAN 589 BILLION VND TO CARE FOR TET FOR THE POOR

In 2022, despite many difficulties, Nghe An's socio-economic development achieved many positive results. In addition to economic results, the whole province mobilized 615 billion VND to carry out social security work and prevent and fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

After more than 10 years of implementing the Tet for the Poor Program, Nghe An province has called for more than 589 billion VND to take care of Tet for hundreds of thousands of poor households. For the 2022 Lunar New Year alone, the whole province mobilized more than 126 billion VND, giving gifts to more than 66,000 poor households, more than 120,000 near-poor households, policy families, and social protection beneficiaries.

Speaking at the program, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that these support results are one of the most vivid proofs affirming the good moral tradition of "loving others as you love yourself", valuing loyalty despite the difficult life of the people of Nghe An.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his deep gratitude for the meaningful activities and spreading love of organizations, individuals, businesses, entrepreneurs, philanthropists and people from all walks of life, and the children of Nghe An living far from home who have joined hands, united, and made practical and effective contributions to social security activities in general and supporting the poor in particular over the past time.

Despite many efforts and attempts, there are still a number of people in remote areas, those affected by natural disasters, epidemics, people with serious illnesses, the disadvantaged... whose lives are still very difficult.

Up to now, according to the new poverty standard, the whole province still has more than 55,000 poor households, accounting for 6.4%; over 53,500 near-poor households, accounting for 6.2%, in dire need of support from the whole society.

HELP THE POOR "EVERYONE HAS TET"

Responding to the Appeal Letter of the Provincial Party Secretary, agencies, units, businesses, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists enthusiastically participated in contributing and supporting the poor to celebrate Tet. In the difficult conditions of 2022, the above contributions are even more meaningful, demonstrating a noble gesture full of compassion and respect.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung said that, with the humanistic value of life, "Giving love will receive love", each gift, no matter how small or large, will contribute to helping the poor "have Tet for everyone", "no one is left behind", together welcoming the Lunar New Year 2023 with the warmth of compatriots, happiness, health and full of love.

"I call on all levels, sectors, businesses, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, organizations, individuals and TV viewers to continue promoting the tradition of "helping each other", joining hands to help the poor and disadvantaged in the spirit of "Joining hands for the poor - Leaving no one behind", especially during the Tet holiday and Spring", said the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

The program's organizing committee also held an auction of the calligraphy "Nghia". Businesswoman Tran Thi Toan was the successful bidder for the painting, bidding 1 billion VND.
