Nghe An responds to the Month of Action on Labor Safety and Hygiene and Workers' Month 2024

On the afternoon of May 6, the Labor Safety and Hygiene Council and the Provincial Labor Federation held a launching ceremony to respond to the Month of Action on Labor Safety and Hygiene and Workers' Month 2024.

Attending the event were members of the Provincial Party Executive Committee: Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Labor Safety and Hygiene Council; Kha Van Tam - Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation; Doan Hong Vu - Director of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs; representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches and sectors; representatives of leaders of more than 30 units and enterprises located in the province; collectives and individuals awarded for labor safety and hygiene work, and nearly 300 cadres, employees and workers representing the labor force across the province.

At the ceremony, delegates listened to reports on the results of occupational safety and hygiene work, Workers' Month 2023, and directions and tasks for 2024 in Nghe An province. Accordingly, in recent years, occupational safety and hygiene activities and workers' movements have always received special attention and direction from Party committees and authorities. Awareness of all levels, sectors, agencies, and business units on occupational safety and hygiene work and policies for workers has been significantly improved.

Accordingly, 100% of fatal occupational accidents are reported, investigated and handled according to the law; craft villages and cooperatives have access to appropriate information on occupational safety and hygiene; workers who suffer from occupational accidents and diseases are compensated, subsidized, treated and rehabilitated according to the law; and those in charge of management, direction and organization of occupational safety and hygiene at the district, town and city levels and in economic zones and industrial parks are trained to improve their capacity and update their knowledge on occupational safety and hygiene.

The month of action on occupational safety and hygiene and the annual Workers' Month are considered a widespread propaganda campaign on occupational safety and hygiene, and workers' movements in enterprises, contributing to raising awareness among workers and employers, minimizing the occurrence of occupational accidents and diseases.

Speaking at the program, comrade Kha Van Tam - Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation frankly acknowledged the good and bad points in the work.occupational safety and hygiene2023. In 2024, with the theme "Strengthening occupational safety and hygiene at the workplace and in the supply chain", the head of Nghe An Trade Union hopes that this will be a peak month for communication activities, raising awareness and compliance with laws on occupational safety and hygiene, promoting specific action programs on occupational safety and hygiene.

At the same time, through the activities of Workers' Month with the theme "Workers' Solidarity - Implementing the Resolution", promote the pioneering role of union members and workers in innovation, technical improvement, improving labor productivity and work efficiency. Continue to care for, support and protect the legitimate rights and interests of workers and laborers. Build harmonious and progressive labor relations, promote the development of agencies, units and enterprises, economic growth, contribute to ensuring employment and improving income and life of union members and laborers. Promote the building of organizations, establish grassroots unions, develop union members, and bring the Resolution of the Trade Union Congress at all levels into life soon.

On this occasion, Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation presented 44 gifts to 44 workers with difficult circumstances who had work-related accidents in the province.

On this occasion, in order to commend collectives with many achievements in occupational safety and hygiene, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 4 collectives with many outstanding achievements in occupational safety and hygiene in 2023.

At the same time, in order to recognize the achievements of the Trade Union of the State Reserve Department in Nghe Tinh region in the emulation movement "Green - clean - beautiful, ensuring occupational safety and hygiene", the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also awarded the Emulation Flag to this unit.

Previously, on April 10, the People's Committee of Nghe An province approved the Decision to reorganize the Nghe An Provincial Occupational Safety and Health Council. Accordingly, the council consists of 22 members, with Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long as Chairman of the Council.
