Nghe An: School accountant arbitrarily inflated salary to 'embezzle' nearly 300 million VND

(Baonghean.vn) - The Nghi Loc District Disciplinary Council recently met, voted and decided to dismiss Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu (born in 1976, accountant of Nghi Yen Secondary School, Nghi Loc District) for arbitrarily raising her salary to "embezzle" the budget.

This is the information Mr. Nguyen Van Thong - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Nghi Loc district said.

Previously, in early August 2017, the State Treasury of Nghi Loc district, when completing procedures to settle the salary regime according to the new salary scale for 34 cadres and teachers of Nghi Yen Secondary School, discovered that 10 teachers had received salaries 2 years before the salary increase.

Through inspection, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu admitted that she had arbitrarily increased the salaries of these teachers ahead of schedule since the beginning of the 2015-2016 school year. When the salaries were transferred to the school, Ms. Thu "stole" the entire difference, a total of nearly 300,000,000 VND. Meanwhile, the teachers still received their salaries according to the current coefficient. Currently, Ms. Thu has returned all of the above amount.

Regarding management responsibilities, Mr. Nguyen Minh Son - Principal of Nghi Yen Secondary School was demoted for lax management. The school treasurer was also held responsible and reprimanded.
