African swine fever is resurfacing in some localities in Nghe An. Local authorities and specialized agencies are promptly controlling outbreaks.

These days, Dong Van commune (Tan Ky) and specialized agencies are actively implementing solutions to prevent African swine fever, after pigs of 2 households in the commune were infected with the disease.

Accordingly, on March 14, Tan Ky district received test results from the Veterinary Department of Region III, detecting the African swine fever virus in 4 households in Tan Dong hamlet, with 21 pigs, total weight of 520kg. Specifically: Mr. Tran Van Tam's household had 2 pigs, weighing 50kg; Mrs. Trinh Thi Thao's household had 11 pigs, weighing 270kg; Mrs. Ha Thi Bien's household had 3 pigs, weighing 75kg and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Luong's household had 5 pigs, weighing 125kg.

Immediately after that, Tan Ky District People's Committee directed the specialized agencies and Dong Van commune to implement measures to prevent and control African swine fever according to regulations. For communes adjacent to the outbreak: Tan An, Tien Ky, Tan Hop, Nghia Phuc, immediately implement measures to prevent and control the epidemic, to control the outbreak in a small area. Up to now, after 1 week, it shows that Tan Ky has not had another outbreak.

Que Phong district is currently experiencing the spread of African swine fever. Previously, at the end of February, an outbreak occurred at Mr. Bui Van Phuc's household in Dan village, Tien Phong commune. Mr. Sam Viet Hung - Chairman of Tien Phong commune People's Committee said that although the outbreak only involved one pig weighing 40kg, the locality still implemented disease prevention and control measures according to regulations, so the outbreak was controlled.

However, shortly after that, African swine fever still occurred in other communes of Que Phong district. Mr. Pham Hoang Mai - Director of the Agricultural Service Center of Que Phong district, said: After Tien Phong commune controlled the epidemic, African swine fever recurred in a household in the border commune of Nam Giai. Currently, the specialized agency is coordinating with the commune government to implement epidemic prevention solutions according to regulations.

According to information from the Nghe An Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, African swine fever is currently occurring in 4 localities: Tan Ky, Con Cuong, Que Phong, and Hoang Mai town. Each locality has 1-2 outbreaks, with small-scale household farming.

Mr. Tran Vo Ba - Deputy Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine recommends: To ensure safe animal husbandry, people need to buy pigs of clear origin and carefully check the health of the pigs before buying; During the raising process, it is necessary to fully vaccinate against diseases; During the care period, limit the use of pond water and food of unknown origin; Regularly spray chemicals to disinfect and treat the environment inside and outside the barn area; Limit outsiders, especially traders buying pigs, from entering the barn area...

In case of an epidemic, people need to immediately notify local authorities to implement timely disease prevention measures. At the same time, local authorities should strengthen propaganda to limit people from selling pigs, hiding the epidemic... to control the epidemic in a small area.
