The fact that localities in the province are vaccinating against avian influenza A/H5N6 makes consumers wonder whether animals can be slaughtered after vaccination, and how to manage them?
Dien Chau district currently has over 1.9 million poultry and waterfowl. Of these, 1.2 million are raised on a small scale, while the remaining 700,000 are raised on farms. Mr. Nguyen Trong Bon - Head of Dien Chau Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station said that the unit has received 300,000 doses of vaccine from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine. The station is advising the district on vaccination and vaccine distribution to the communes.
According to Mr. Le The Hieu - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dien Chau district, to ensure safety for people consuming poultry and waterfowl, the district directed communes to make a vaccination list of each household, and at the same time step up propaganda work; requiring people to sign a commitment not to slaughter or trade poultry and waterfowl after vaccination.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Dang Van Minh - Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine said: If poultry and waterfowl are slaughtered immediately after being vaccinated against the disease, it will affect human health when using the meat to process food.
To manage poultry and waterfowl after vaccination, local authorities must have solutions, in which the direct solution is that household owners sign a commitment with local authorities not to trade or slaughter poultry 14 days after vaccination.
For the A/H5N6 avian influenza vaccine, people can only sell poultry and waterfowl to the market or slaughter and eat them 14 days after vaccination to ensure human health.
