Nghe An proposes that the whole country simultaneously mobilize to clear traffic safety corridors
(Baonghean.vn) - The Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee proposed that the Government direct localities to simultaneously launch campaigns to clear traffic safety corridors to create consensus and synchronization.
On the morning of January 3, at the national online conference organized by the Government to summarize the work of ensuring traffic order and safety in 2017, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien said that in the past year, the work of ensuring traffic order and safety was directed very resolutely by the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee with high political determination and many new solutions.
According to comrade Huynh Thanh Dien, despite many difficulties, especially the rapid increase in vehicles in the area, traffic accidents in Nghe An decreased in all three criteria. Accordingly, in the province last year, there were 296 traffic accidents, killing 186 people and injuring 227 people. Compared to 2016, there were 11 fewer accidents, 15 fewer deaths, and 7 fewer injuries.

In 2017, Nghe An province closed 39 residential level crossings. “Clearing traffic safety corridors is one of the key tasks in 2017, for which the Provincial People's Council issued a separate resolution. The Provincial People's Committee also issued a plan to implement the resolution, requiring localities in the province to establish a steering committee headed by the secretary and chairperson of the district level and responsible to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee,” said the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
More than 8,000 people died in traffic accidents in 2017
(Baonghean.vn) - In 2017, there were more than 20,000 traffic accidents nationwide, killing more than 8,200 people and injuring more than 17,000 others.
Up to now, the whole province has cleared 15,426 m2house, kiosk, tent, shop; 32,162m2awnings of all kinds; 9,425 billboards; 563 business and trading points for construction materials... After the clearance, the province assigned the localities to manage, not to let re-encroachment happen, and at the same time organized for people to sign commitments.

At the conference, comrade Huynh Thanh Dien proposed that the Government direct localities to simultaneously launch campaigns to clear traffic safety corridors to create consensus and synchronization among localities.
“We also recommend that a circular on traffic safety funding should be issued soon, proposing that localities receive 70% of the fines as per the Government’s Resolution so that localities can be proactive in ensuring traffic safety and order in the area. Regarding the control of overloaded trucks, the province proposes that the Government issue regulations on coordination between the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Transport, and at the same time direct synchronous implementation in localities,” said the Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee.

After the speech of Nghe An bridge, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The said that in the past year, Nghe An has been very active in ensuring traffic safety, especially in closing the level crossings. Speaking at the conference, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh requested the National Traffic Safety Committee, ministries, branches, organizations and People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to continue building traffic culture for the whole society; It is necessary to innovate methods of propaganda, dissemination and education of laws on traffic order and safety, and perfect the training program linking theory with practice on traffic culture...
The Deputy Prime Minister said that in some localities there is still a situation of negative cover-up, especially in the issue of overloaded vehicles and encroachment on traffic safety corridors.
