Nghe An installs forest fire prevention cameras at the beginning of the hot season

(Baonghean.vn) - Recently, Nghe An Forest Protection Department has installed 7 more cameras in key pine forest areas of 4 districts in Nghe An province to observe and detect forest fires early, improving the effectiveness of forest fire prevention and control.

Entering the hot season this year, in April 2024, Nghe An Forest Protection Department installed 7 more surveillance cameras to detect forest fires in key pine forest areas of 4 districts in Nghe An province, including: Thanh Chuong, Yen Thanh, Nam Dan and Do Luong.

360-degree camera continuously monitors with a viewing radius of 7 to 10 km. The captured camera images will be transmitted to the server located at the Do Luong District Forest Protection Department with staff on duty 24/7 to monitor, promptly detect if a forest fire occurs, promptly mobilize rescue forces to extinguish the fire.

Nam Dan district also installed 3 cameras in key pine forest areas including Nam Giang commune, King Mai Hac De temple in Nam Dan town, Dai Tue pagoda in Nam Anh commune.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Minh - Head of Forest Protection and Nature Conservation Management Department, Nghe An Provincial Forest Protection Department added: Up to now, Nghe An province has 11 forest surveillance cameras. Putting this surveillance camera system into use has reduced the difficulties and hardships for the forces on duty at the fire watchtowers during the extremely hot days. Especially, it improves the efficiency.forest fire prevention, when detected early for timely response.

Nghe An province currently has 173 key forests, including 15,476 hectares of pine forests, 720 hectares of mixed eucalyptus forests, more than 42,900 hectares of bamboo forests and 173,867.34 hectares of mixed wood and bamboo forests.

In the coming time, the Forestry Department will continue to survey and submit requests to relevant departments to install additional camera surveillance systems to more effectively protect and prevent forest fires.
