Through the survey, the results showed that, out of 21 departments of education and training and 400 secondary schools, 18 departments agreed with this plan (85.71%), the number of departments disagreed was 3 departments (14.29%); the number of secondary schools agreed was 289 schools (72.25%) and the number of schools disagreed was 111 schools (27.75%).
At the high school level, after consulting 90 schools, 85 schools responded. Of these, 79 schools agreed with this plan (92.94%) and 6 schools disagreed (7.06%).
For about 5 years now,10th grade entrance examIn Nghe An, there have been continuous adjustments to the organization of 3 exam subjects (including 2 compulsory subjects: Math and Literature, the remaining subject is a randomly drawn subject). In the 2018-2019 school year, in addition to the 2 compulsory subjects: Math and Literature, the 3rd exam subject is a combination subject (including Foreign Language and 1 subject from the Natural Science group and 1 subject from the Social Science group). For the past 2 years, due to the impact of the epidemic, Nghe An has returned to applying 3 subjects in the entrance exam to grade 10, which are Math, Literature and Foreign Language. In all these exams, Math and Literature are scored 2 and the remaining subject is scored 1.
Thus, compared to the traditional scoring method, the new plan that the Department of Education and Training has just consulted has changed quite a bit when all three subjects Math, Literature and Foreign Language are calculated as 1 point.
This change is based on Circular 26/2020/TT-BGDDT dated October 26, 2020 of the Ministry of Education and Training on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Regulations on assessment and classification of secondary school and high school students issued together with Circular No. 58/2011/TT-BGDDT dated December 12, 2011 of the Ministry of Education and Training; Decision No. 2445/QD-UBND dated July 23, 2020 on approving the Project "Improving the quality of teaching and learning foreign languages in educational institutions in Nghe An province, period 2020-2025, orientation to 2030" and based on the current situation of foreign language teaching and learning in secondary schools in the province.
Discussing further on this issue, Mr. Dao Cong Loi - Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Education and Training said: The adjustment of the coefficient basically does not affect the enrollment of schools much. The purpose of the Department of Education and Training is to change the coefficient in the admission to contribute to improving the quality of teaching and learning foreign languages in schools and encourage foreign language learning in all students.

In fact, the method of taking scores with the same coefficient has also been applied in Ho Chi Minh City and some other localities across the country. In Nghe An, with the aim of improving the quality of foreign language learning, in the past 2 years, the province has also had many policies such as giving priority to direct admission of students with international foreign language certificates to specialized schools, public high schools and direct admission to grade 6 in some high-quality key schools.
It is expected that after receiving opinions from schools, the Department will review and soon apply it in the upcoming 10th grade entrance exams./.
