Nghe An: Tornado destroys many areas of spring corn
(Baonghean.vn) - Morning of March 21, a tornado of quite strong intensity has caused damage to many areas of spring corn. Currently, localities are urgently repairing the broken corn areas.
A sudden storm that occurred in the early morning of March 21st damaged more than 400 hectares of spring corn, mainly in highland communes.Yen Thanh district.

In the 2017 spring crop, Yen Thanh planted over 800 hectares of corn with the main varieties: 30T87, CP 501, NK 7328, NK 6654, T4919... the corn fields that were broken were concentrated in the communes of Tay Thanh, Quang Thanh, Kim Thanh, Minh Thanh, and Thinh Thanh.
Immediately after the storm, the district assigned departments and offices to directly go to localities to count the damage and guide people on solutions to overcome it... For the young areas that were knocked down, they were replanted so that the corn could grow well; for the areas where the corn had grown old and could no longer be repaired, they were assigned to specialized departments to coordinate with TH Milk Company and cow farms to make purchase contracts for the people. At the same time, they counted the damage and reported it to the province to have a support mechanism for the people who suffered the damage.
Faced with unusual weather conditions, the district recommends that farmers proactively take positive measures and arrange crops appropriately to avoid natural disasters and minimize damage caused by storms, droughts, floods and storms.
*The tornado also destroyed 331 hectares of spring corn.Anh Son district, the largest of which is Dinh Son 150ha, followed by Tam Son 67ha, Cam Son 64ha... The corn plants are in the stage of flowering and sprouting silk, some teas have entered the stage of filling the grains, causing many people's expectations of a bumper crop to suddenly disappear.
Currently, district leaders and agricultural officers of communes have instructed people to repair corn areas that are capable of being harvested. The area of corn that has been completely broken down has been directed to be harvested for animal feed.

* In Dong Son commune, Do Luong districtDue to strong winds, more than 30 hectares of corn were also knocked down and could not be repaired.
The corn area that fell over was in the flowering stage and is expected to be harvested in about a month. The corn is growing well and if it does not fall over, the yield is estimated to be 2.5 - 2.8 quintals per sao. The corn variety that fell over was mainly 6919 and some areas were C919./.
