The stilt house of Mr. Lang Thanh Yen, Muong Piet village, Thong Thu commune, Que Phong district, collapsed completely at 3:00 a.m. on October 11. The initial cause was determined to be due to heavy rains that had lasted for many days, causing rocks and soil from the mountain to collapse and crush the house.
Mr. Lang Thanh Yen’s house was built in the style of an ancient Thai stilt house. The four-room house was made of precious wood and the roof was covered with tiles. The furniture in the house was also completely destroyed. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
Ms. Luong Thi Hong - Chairwoman of Thong Thu Commune People's Committee said that the local government has not yet fully calculated the damage, but a stilt house like this is worth billions.
“Under the direction of the local government, we also assigned staff to stay in the village for the past few days, but we could not have foreseen this incident because this is a place that rarely experiences landslides. Moreover, the landslide happened at night and very quickly, so we were extremely surprised,” Ms. Hong added.
